I purchased this as a gift for a grandparent, and they absolutely adored it. The reading process simply involves following the lowest visible number within the tube. It's also quite visually appealing.

I was concerned given the reviews. But, I went ahead and bought it anyway. I am wondering if those who stated that the barometer did not work are tapping the barometer to get it to move. With analog barometers, when you want to see whether the pressure is rising or falling, you move the manual needle to where barometer's needle is to mark its last location. Then, you tap the glass and the barometer's needle moves to the current location. The needle won't move unless you tap the glass because there is just a slight bit of friction built into the barometer so whoever is reading it can take note of whether the pressure is rising or falling.

This is by far a great conversation piece, I bought this for my parents and after more than one month we are still talking about it.The best piece is the thermometer, my mom is always asking for the temperature but now it's only a matter of asking how're the little balls in the thermometer; if there are all up it's cold, if there are all down it's hot and if there are half up and half down it's a nice day.The rest of the metering tools (clock, barometer and hygrometer) are working properly; although, for the barometer we needed to contact the local weather station to calibrate our device.The finishing its a bit cheap, not the greatest and the quality of the balls inside the thermometer are also a bit cheap, I'm guessing that's expected for the price paid.I would recommend it to anyone looking for a conversation piece and a useful weather station.

It all works great. If the barometric pressure looks off, tap the glass a bit to see if the needle will move. I wouldn't count this as a fault though, as my dad has to do the same with his top-of-the-line banjo-style barometer. The temperature bulbs are fun to watch and it's easy to glance from across the room to get an idea of the temperature. The humidity gauge is accurate as well. It has a "normal" range marked from 40% to 70% which might not be normal in your region. The clock keeps time well running on a round 357/303 battery that you'll need to purchase separately but can be found easily. The clock ticks audibly, but no louder than any other clock.

I bought this as a gift and after a week of setting it up, we noticed something wasn’t right. We figured out that the Galileo thermometer was upside down. We weren’t sure how to proceed with fixing it and I didn’t want to break it, so I emailed the seller per their request, but I did not receive any communications back. I eventually took things into my own hands and figured out how to fix the issue. I down rated it based on the fact it was upside down when it arrived, and the lack of communication from the seller.

The item is very nice looking, however, the minute and hour hands on the clock have stopped twice. It is not a power problem as the second hand continues to move. My wife decided not to return it, as that is a hassle. She bought this for looks as we already have two clocks in the room. Although it suites what she wanted, I cannot give an item more than three stores when it does not work as advertised when delivered.UPDATE: As soon as this review was posted, Lily's Home offered a full refund. I would now rate the company as five stars and would buy from them again.

The clock will never be correct. The clock is mechanically off. When it needs to be set on the hour the minute hand will physically not be on the same number as the hour hand. It is stuck at 30 minutes after. The other components are great though!
