Like any reasonable person, the first thing I did was open the box and beat the crap out of it with a hammer.It survived, so I figured it would be a good christmas gift for dad.It's made out of a material like a hockey puck. In fact it feels exactly like a hockey puck, with holes in it, and pretty close to the same weight too. If it's made of hockey puck material, it should pretty much last forever.The molding is done well, there's no flashing in the holes which is a personal pet peeve. This does have a generous center hole, so if you're someone who has a dowel mounted on your bench to accept a block, this will work very well.It also comes with a rubber mat, which I originally thought was for packaging, but it turns out it's actually really superbly grippy. It's also thick enough that it gives the device some cushion when you're smashing it.Note that none of the holes are blind holes, they all go straight through. Consider that there's also a lip on the rubber mat, which is a great choice, because now it will retain your pins! VERY THOUGHTFUL! Good design!One side has a flat valley, and the other side has an excellent contour. It seems to hold pipes really well too, making it suitable to use with a drill press or something.There is a manual and a warranty card in the box, but if you need a manual to use one, you probably should pick another hobby.

I immediately started using this thing when I got it. I'm always tinkering with firearms and knocking out pins or removing clips and screws. This tool is larger than I originally thought. It is 4 inches in diameter by 1.25 inches thick. This is not a bad thing, I just didn't realize it was this size. It gives me plenty of purchase area when holding and plenty of room to work on as well. The material it is made from feels odd. It is a hard solid piece, but has a feeling of rubber to the touch. It certainly will not leave any marks on the finish of your firearm. I don't know why I went so long without purchasing one of these.

I gotta say it's pretty nice for the cost definitely would buy again way better than the other brand I bought before and I like how it comes with a removable rubber bottom sleeve

I compared this to other similar blocks and it seemed to have all the features the others had and a slip resistant pad to catch pins. The only feature it didn't have was a magnet, which some advised it did not always catch the pin. It is mostly specific to 1911's but I am sure it will work for most other firearms. I haven't used it yet but I am sure the material it is made of won't harm the finish on any firearm. For the money I think this is the best overall tool for working on your guns.

This is a simple little tool that does not pretend to do everything but does its basic job just fine. Haven't used it much yet, however seems tough enough to go the long haul. I would recommend both the tool and this seller to a friend. Jerry

I purchased this item to discover it had cracks and appeared to have been returned so I returned it for a replacement. I understand these things happen so I contacted Amazon and received a new replacement the next day! Wow! The replacement is great. This block feels and looks to be durable for many types of models, both long guns and pistols. It includes a removable rubber base to prevent surface skidding. Glad to have this quality piece on the workbench. It should offer years of service!

I used it for its intended purpose. Its functionality worked according to its design with additional features for possible other future work.I would recommend that the manufacturer provide color instructions to show contrasts within the images. I could not differentiate some elements in the images that were provided in the literature.
