wonderfully life changing trike, worth the adversity
This trike helped my health incredibly. I thought trikes were extremely expensive, and I had no idea they could be less than $400. If I had known, I would have bought a trike 10 years ago.It was definitely shipped poorly--the chain guard arrived bent to the point of not usable, and some protective materials that were supposed to keep the trike safe during shipping had fallen off, which meant there were holes poked through the box where the axle protruded through the box.But the frame arrived good, the wheels arrived good, and everything else was ok. My spouse who has known about bikes for a long time was able to assemble it despite the lack of instructions. The booklets included weren't even about this particular machine! Wow!So I was lucky my spouse knew what to do, or we would have had to pay to have it professionally assembled. One part related to the axle was wrong, and my spouse was stumped about a spacer being the wrong size, phoning a friend for advice, and he eventually figured it out.It seemed very flimsy at first and it was difficult for me to trust it. Then about two weeks in, a part broke, where a wheel attached to the axle--it was supposed to be a D but had become an O. We couldn't figure out how to fix it, but we took it to our (car) mechanic who fixed it, enjoying a challenge. Now it's ok. But the part that was weak, it didn't need to be weak. I wish they had made it strong to begin with. My spouse called, and they sent us a new wheel, which was sweet, but it would be better if they made it strong to begin with. The seat has has an issue that started about a month in, with the conical springs--a conical spring moved into the wrong place, but my spouse fixes it periodically--every five days or so. He says that's not so great, but the seat is comfortable and ok otherwise, very large, which I like. This trike is amazing for being inexpensive, light, cute, and a good size for my height--I'm 5'4" with short legs. It's amazing for changing my life by helping me have health. My spouse and I ride in our neighborhood early every morning, and how did I live without it? I needed it really bad.But a lot of things about it could be better, with shipping and documentation and part strength. I'm glad we were able to overcome the issues. I don't need a chain guard. We never put the basket on because we were trying to keep it as small as possible in hopes it would fit into our car, but we haven't tried to fold it, as our car is small, and I don't think it would fit.

Great bike, only one issue
We bought this bike for my 17 y/o stepson who has mild cerebral palsy with right sided weakness. He loves it! It give him a sense of freedom and speed at a pace he enjoys and we feel comfortable with. The braking mechanism is pretty easy for him. The only problem we're aware of so far, after two times riding, is that, if he's going down a slight slope and there isn't tension on the chain, it wants to miss a spoke when he starts to pedal again. If he back pedals a little, that resets the chain. All-in-all, we are very happy with this purchase and the smile on his face. Oh! Lest I forget. The shipping speed was amazing! We were told it wouldn't get here until today, but it actually came about a week ago. Very good surprise, since his birthday was yesterday!

Perfect bike for teen/adult with Down syndrome
I was going to give this bike fewer stars after struggling for hours to put it together (awful instructions, missing screws, etc.), but now that we've had it for several weeks, wow, this trike is great! We bought it for our 16-yr old daughter who has Down syndrome. She never cared for the 2-wheel bike with training wheels she's had for years. I'm guessing it was just too much to worry about keeping the bike upright while coordinating pedaling and braking and everything else. This bike is PERFECT for her! She all of a sudden loves biking and asks to ride it every day. Any time the family goes out--to a restaurant, shopping, walking the dog, etc.--she asks if she can ride her bike. It's great! Next purchase will be a bike rack for the car so the family can go on biking adventures together. When folded, the trike does fit in my little car (Nissan Leaf) with the back seats folded down. Also, to make it fit, the handlebars need to come off, which is fine because they have a quick-release mechanism. (The seat is also quick-release, which is handy, since all of our daughter's friends are wanting to try out the trike and it's easy to raise the seat.)I'm glad we got the 16-inch and not the 20-inch. It's plenty big. My daughter is 4'8 and 100 pounds and she uses the seat at its lowest level. And kids/adults much taller fit on it fine with the seat raised.

I am so disappointed because this trike would have suited me so well
I am so disappointed because this trike would have suited me so well. I am handicapped and awaiting hip replacement. I have to lose weight and my specialist advised me that one of the best exercises was riding a bike. I have a balance problem, hence I purchased this trike. I was excited when it arrived and started the task of assembling it. There lay the first problem. The instruction leaflet doesn't give instructions. It makes general statement, like telling you to adjust the brakes, but doesn't tell you how to adjust the brakes. It is so woefully inadequate that it is of no use whatsoever. The trike was definitely not in 'new' condition. The frame is heavily scratched and there is a number of gaping paint flaws that would definitely rust. It took me a couple of hours to assemble. More problems. The chain guard gets in the way of the pedals and no matter what I did to adjust it, the pedals still stuck. I took it off and attempted to ride the trike. The single gear and drive train made a horrendous noise and jumped all over the place. I then attempted to fix the basket onto the trike and discovered that there a no fixings in the pack or on the trike to do this. I took the trike to my local bike store to see if they could help. They had a quick look at the trike and told me that the frame had an alignment problem and that was why the chainguard was catching the pedals. I have come to the conclusion that buying this trike is a lottery. You may get one that's perfect and the reviews echo this, or you may end up with a dud and the reviews echo this too. I'm returning mine for a refund because it's not as advertised, it's defective and I am not willing to take part in another lottery to get it replaced.
