I am an avid vipassana meditator, and I bought this cushion to use for daily meditation. When I received it, it seemed high quality and comfortable. It comes overstuffed, which allows you to empty out buckwheat hulls until it's comfortable for you, which I like ( I emptied out about half of the filling).However, not even two months after buying this, the seams are coming apart in THREE separate places and buckwheat hulls are leaking out all over. The holes are 1-2" long, and are at the seam where the round top/bottom parts attach to the pleated side part. I've sewed up the holes for now, but the seams are clearly weakening in other spots on the pillow as well - so I don't have high hopes for this lasting much longer.Long story short - it seems nice at first, and it is comfortable, but this is NOT made for longevity. I bought this for daily meditation, not as a decoration, and this cushion is proving to be wholly inadequate.

These are wonderful. Perfect size. They make my lower back feel great. The best thing is that they stay firm, but are easy to adjust the filling to make it comfortable. Even the cats like them.

I did a lot of research to find the perfect zafu. My biggest concern besides quality was that a lot of the reviews I saw said the buckwheat had bugs. I liked what I read about this company and how they treat their employees, the buckwheat is from the USA and not China with dishonorable labor practices. I just received it today, I checked the buckwheat and it is bug free with no funny smell. Sits comfortable and perfect. It is exactly like the zafus we have at temple! Ordering one for my son...

I purchased four of these for sitting at my dinner table that is low to the ground (aka chabudai). I ended up placing two around my dinner table and two (stacked) next to my child's floor bed. These have gotten a ton of daily use over the past 2 months!Cons:• Prolonged sitting becomes uncomfortable (more than 15-20mins), with the need to re-adjust for the sake of your glutes and sit bones• These have gone flat after just 2 months, they have flattened by 50%• Cleaning the cover requires dedication, patience, a special funnel (or makeshift one as you can see in my pictures) and a bin big enough to hold all the hulls (you will be surprised just how much will come out of one of these!Pros:• Very versatile. I have stacked these depending on where Im sitting and what Im doing, used them to stretch my back over them and as a head rest when Im on the floor playing with my kiddo.• The cover is durable (so far) and thick, even after a trip in the washer and dryer.• The handle is a nice added feature that I didnt think would matter but it does.Overall, would I purchase again? Yes, maybe, depends. :-PI would consider getting an extra set of covers or even a thin sack to contain the hulls inside the main cover.If you're purchasing more than 4, you're going to need some assistance to clean the covers!I might consider getting a stuffed pillow (like foam or fabrics) instead just to not have to deal with pouring and packing hulls.

I purchased this to have something to sit on the floor on when I put my baby in his playmat/jungle gym floor mat. I have hardwood floors in my house and to be on my sits bones for a half hour + was becoming painful. I also wanted something high quality that could be re-purposed after my child got older and I did not need to be on the floor as much . I decided to purchase this particular item because I read that many could sit in it for an hour+ and not have pain, so I figured for 30-40 min spurts with my child it should do the trick. It definitely has not only made my back/sits bone pain go away but it has made it much easier to get up off the floor as well. The product is very well made, it has been kicked about and moved to several different rooms, I have even vacuumed it and it holding up great. I use it as a foot rest for my recliner also and it is very comfortable. I know this is a non traditional way to use this but it works for us and I am happy with my purchase.

I'm still struggling to establish meditation practice in my life. I've just been sitting on the floor. I've heard of these cushions but didn't know why I would need one, floor seemed just fine to me. Then I decided to just buy in hopes that I will have inviting dedicated space to meditate which would help facilitate establishing a habit of it. I'm pleasantly surprised. First out of the box it was much smaller than I imagined, but the size works. It's perfect for me. And it really helps maintain posture. I'm just so surprised at what a difference it makes. I certainly do worry about leakage, but no problems on first day of use. I ordered burgundy and it's very nice color and goes with my decor. I'm quite happy!

Sturdy, sewn well and comfortable. I got it on a good sale--the best deal I found on the internet for a buckwheat filled cushion.UPDATE: Still going strong 3 years later with daily use. My favorite cushion and the most comfortable for long meditation sessions. Cover has not faded, and no rips or tears in stitching/seams.

Great meditation pillow. If you are looking for something to alleviate the discomfort of sitting on the floor during long meditations, this pillow is for you. It's firm and holds you off the ground, letting your legs cascade down while crossed; however, it is just soft enough to relieve the pressure on your pelvic bones.The construction is study, and the material is not cheap or flimsy. The filling is accessible through a zipper that is hidden among the pleats. It is loose filling so washing the pillow itself would be difficult but not impossible. A slip cover would probably be best. I am using an old pillow case until I find a nice cover for it.Just a side note, I purchased the green pillow.... which on the website looks like a soft "leaf" green. In reality it is more like hunter green. Not a big deal, but I wanted to mention it.
