Onyx Chess Set

Terrific chest set! Great quality. Has felt on the bottom of the pieces. Board is outstanding. Have recieved many complements on this set. Also provided carrier is great.

Product ordered through Amazon with OUTSIDE 22 lb. box fine. INSIDE box placed upside down even though twice stickered fragile on top and printed logos on side. Second box well styro foamed inside with things in plastic bags and the manufacture shaped styro foam that held individually placed chess pieces was shrink wrapped. I didn't open this package since deciding whether to return this product WITHIN THIRTY DAYS POLICY.BLUE VELVET CASE extremely poor workmanship!! Outside bottom had glued on paper covering that was cheap looking featuring an inch and a quarter pattern of squares in multi colors, wrinkled corners of the sheets were not centered on the bottom nor lined up where had been pieced. Top and bottom of the case don't match on the corners, hinges were openly silver nailed black Velcro pieces not physically lining up with the lid and base box. Front closure tabs were made of black velcro pieces nailed to the box but the front piece was covered with the same low standard blue velvet and the velvet was rubbed flat and was discolored on one tab. The LID interior of this box is lined with a taffeta like blue material with a folding crease and pressured markings that didn't smooth out. The side support to hold top of box open was a quarter inch piece of white ribbon openly nailed on the lid and box base at forty five degrees so as to hold open the lid.INTERIOR holding box for chess pieces was covered in blue fabric loosely draped, scrunched and glued in the number of openings needed for pieces with the openings along one side very narrow. . In between the openings it felt like a single layer of light weight cardboard. The BASE of this box felt like a piece of box cardboard cut to size with possibly a thin piece of styro foam on top. The sides were glued and folded around the shape. I could have easily BENT this entire holding box. There were glue remains several places on the interior blue box along with small pieces of anonymous debris. The LIFT TABS for this interior chess piece holding board were a two inch long piece of the same white ribbon mentioned nailed on the left and the right in a loop to grasp and lift. FLIMSY AND NOT SECURE FOR PIECES.The CHESS BOARD was in a plastic bag below the chess pieces in the same STRO FOAM two piece box.It looks satisfactory on the top surface. BUT, the dark gray one eighth inch thick BACKING is a glued on rubberized product, uncentered and not cut precise. The peel off stickers for chess piece bottoms are NOT FELT but that same dark gray rubberized material. These were enclosed in a plastic bag and actually look like furniture leg floor protectors.I'm extremely disappointed in this set. I ZOOMED in on web photos but couldn't determine the FRAUD. THIS WAS TO BE A FAMILY HEIRLOOM BUT IS NOW JUST A JOKE.

The craftsmanship of the individual pieces and board is excellent. Delivery was as promised and carefully packaged

Received it yesterday. Glad to add it to my chess set collection
