Rubie's Star Wars Female Stormtrooper

Though this was rated overall at a 3, and I readthrough nightmare reviews about the costume, I decided to give it the benefit of a doubt. I have a children's Darth Vader costume, and couldn't NOT have a Stormtrooper costume, could I?? Plus I heard the return policy is stellar, so what did I really have to lose? So first thing I opened was the helmet (stupid blister packaging, such a hazard!). Verdict? Yes, it's stupidly cheap, like everyone said, and since I knew about this, my eye was just on the suit itself. And I wasn't going to wear the helmet anyway, and I have a legit Clone trooper mask if I did want to put something on my face. The body suit was great! Being only 5'2", the arms and legs were just a skoch too long for me, but it's spandex so you can kinda roll and tuck things into place. My body type is average, I'm a size 4, with a small chest. I think people who were concerned about transparency may have been curvier (power to yallz!), because I have big calves and thunder thighs (yet had no problem putting on the suit), they do make those areas slightly more transparent because of the stress on the spandex. But it doesn't really show too much in the back. If you're very conservative, wear a tank and hot pants underneath, no biggie. Overall, very excited to wear this!

This costume was clean and new, and exactly what I expected. I am 5'6" and weigh 135lb, and this costume fit me just fine. It definitely would also fit someone taller; I had a couple inches to spare in length of both the arms and legs, and the body would stretch much taller as well. It was not see-through as some have suggested, but maybe they wore a smaller size for their body than I did. The body suit was perfect.The helmet seemed child-sized, which ended up being perfect for me because I happen to have a tiny head. However, if you have a medium or large head, plan to use a different mask or helmet with this costume (or just use the front half of the helmet as a mask, with a string or rubber band to hold it around the back of your head). There is no way my 13 year old son could get his head into this thing. Overall, I would definitely wear this costume again and believe it will last for years to come.

I *almost* didn't buy this costume b/c of the slew of negative reviews but heck it was Halloween under $40 and this mom needed some bad ass attire. I purchased the officially Disney licensed version for my 3 year old - fancy and well made- George Lucas himself may have signed it. I got the cheap knock off version featured here for me- and I have to tell you it kicked Halloween's ass during the 2.5 times I wore it last week. As other reviewers mentioned it's no heirloom costume- it's lycra and foam- but it was legit. I wore black yoga pants and a tank underneath and was totally comfortable both indoors and out (low 50's). As Rubie shows in her ad here- you can sex this thing up and be a hussy storm trooper with the go-go boots, or tone it down and go all out mom in tennis shoes and both work. One note- my son and I switched masks. He preferred the helmet that comes with the costume sold here and is wearing it in photo, and I wore his Disney mask.

I knew this wasn't going to be replica quality, but I thought what the heck, it'll be cute. Wow, was I wrong! I have no idea how they made the model look so attractive wearing this, but it can only be massive alteration to the actual costume, plus maybe Photoshop. This costume is a thin black bodysuit with pieces of thin, flexible craft foam stitched on to it. The chest piece is actually rectangular, not hourglass shaped like the one on the model, so it doesn't show off your waist, it makes you look like a lego. The breast plates are the size of a deck of cards and positioned so high up on the chest piece that there isn't any way to make them go over the area they look like they're supposed to feature. See how it looks like the model has a high turtleneck under that shaped chest piece? Nope. There's maybe an inch of black collar standing up, very close to the top of the chest piece. The belt is a piece of black fabric with craft foam shaped stitched halfway around it, so you have half of a white belt and you have to tie the sash in the back. Very trooper-like! I didn't open the blister pack with the helmet halves in it, because I was afraid of breaking it, but it seems to me that if you held it up to the light you could probably see through it, it's so thin.I'm astonished at how awful this is for the money they're charging. I'm sending it back: I'd be embarrassed to be seen wearing it, even just at a Halloween party. Don't buy this, and save yourself the expense and hassle of returning it.

The 3 stars is for the second order I placed for this costume. The first one I received was dirty, had a hole in it, and it just looked used. There was no way I was going to wear that in public. I've never written a review before but I had to just because I had already read something similar in the reviews and I was soo dissapointed when the same thing happened to me. I was hesitant to order the same costume in a different size (the first one was a little tight and uncomfortable to move in) but my nephew is so excited for us to match this upcoming weekend so I took a chance. I just received the second order and it was so much better; I could tell the different just from the packaging. This one was better in every way and actually looks new. It's obviously not the best material but it's not bad for the price (I paid $40). The mask is alright and overall the costume is pretty nice.People please don't buy things, wear it out, and then return it. It's disgusting and just wrong. But this seller shouldn't be selling this to people either. If you accept returns, that's awesome, but don't send something so disgusting like the first package I received.P.S. The bad costume looks much better in the pictures than it does in person.
