A must read for those wanting to learn how to manage pain using hypnosis
I suspect that the reason you are considering this book is that you or someone close to you is suffering with more than casual pain and you are looking for a solution thru the process of hypnosis. If so, this book is for you. This is an exceptionally well written book which covers the management of pain using hypnosis from every conceivable aspect. As a result it will take some time and effort to digest and implement. However, you don't have to do everything at once to begin making headway with the pain you are looking to address. The manner in which it is written is perfect for the lay person, like myself, and I suspect most any clinician could benefit from it along with the guide book.My purpose in acquiring this book was to just extract the inductions and suggestions while not taking the time to read the rest of the book However, after sampling a few paragraphs I realized the importance of reading the entire text. The explanations and descriptions will significantly enhance your understanding and use of the inductions and suggestions. This is because the author has weaved several very simple yet powerful Ericksonian techniques into the text. The suggestions in this book are exceptionally well written which leads me to believe that many hundreds if not thousands of hours of research and study went into their development. I really wish there was a companion CD containing the audio of each session. Since this is not the case I will be recording them myself for repeated use from my phone.I believe you would be hard pressed to find a better written or more comprehensive coverage of this topic in any other book for the lay person. And I sincerely hope this book helps you to significantly reduce the amount of pain you or that person close to you is experiencing.

Good Book in Itself, Bad Object to the Senses
a bit strange the way the book is presented to your hands and sense perception. It's a large, but light book, with small lettering comparitively, and copious amounts of space for you to write in. This style of book, despite the greatly desired material, was a turn off and made reading it more work. Unusual for a book on pain release! That being said, the author is systematic in his presentation, although he brush strokes evenly throughout his writing, blending technical language (parts of the brain involved in the pain circuitry etc) with a pleasant, casual style. This book tells you how to eliminate pain. But reading it is a lot of work for some cumbersome reason. If you want to feel better, I guess you have to earn it. Erickson thought the same ....

This book is a must for people in pain!
I bought this book and the therapist guide because I have had neuropathy in my feet for 4 years and even with acupuncture and gabapentin I still couldn't do many activities. I also felt sad because of it. I read these books and made recordings using the therapist guide. Now, I do the hypnosis recordings 1-2 times daily and use the scripts in this workbook 1-3 times daily and after 6 weeks my pain is so much better. I can do Zumba without sitting between songs, I can dance for hours, and I can walk at work like I used to, and I have decreased my gabapentin dose. I feel so good emotionalIy as well. I highly recommend this book and the therapist guide. If you put in the work, you will be pleasantly surprised by the results.

Hope springs...!
Although this book appears to be directed to the lay person, I would encourage my colleagues to read it as well! As a family nurse practitioner who sees people with chronic pain daily, I am always looking for ways to help my patients with chronic pain besides just medication and surgery. I have recently added hypnosis to my toolbox, but still struggle with the myths and misconceptions about it. It is my hope that someday, with the work of those like Dr. Jensen, my colleagues will stop smirking when I use the "H" word.ThanksDavid Caulfield MSNLacey, WA.

Insightful, instructive, understandable, fantastic resource
Dr. Jensen's "Hypnosis for Chronic Pain Management" (Therapist Guide)encapsulates the necessities for health care providers and patients to manage pain using the latest research in the field of hypnosis. This guide is well written for either the initiated or uninitiated practitioner.Having somewhat limited knowledge about chronic pain and hypnosis I found the beginning chapters exceptionally informative and mind opening. I appreciate the chapter summaries and the explicit step by step instructions. I especially enjoyed the induction scripts, finding myself comforted and relaxed just by reading them.

an excellant look at hypnosis for pain
Very well written overview of hypnosis in pain management but applicable to many other areas. I would imagine the companion book for therapists is equally good but does not seem to have come out yet.Grounded in solid research which is unusual in this field.

Buen contenido.
