HEADS UP TO BUYERS: This is an amazing product in its true form. In other words, when I purchase it from a beauty supplier/salon like Ulta I get the guaranteed product. I’ve noticed that the bottles I’ve purchased on Amazon have a weaker scent, don’t lather as well, and dont make my scalp feel as clean. If you’re looking at the cheaper price, there’s a good reason it’s being offered for less. This information didn’t “register” until I just ordered it again recently and realized it wasn’t being fulfilled by Kristen Ess. I plant to return this bottle to Amazon and make the drive to Ulta. It’s DEFINITELY worth it! If you don’t have a salon near you who carries this product, then please search Amazon and try to find a supplier who is known in the reviews to be a reputable salon. And if it’s being sold for less than $13 to $14, please be careful, as you’ll probably get a watered down version, as I suspect I have. Original review: This shampoo works great on my gray, finicky hair. I wanted something free from harmful chemicals, but all others left my hair feeling dry and over-processed, and my scalp feeling dirty. This shampoo leaves my scalp feeling clean and never dry or itchy, and doesn’t over-process my hair. PLUS IT SMELLS AMAZING!!!!! The applicator takes a little getting used to, but if you’ve ever used an in-home hair color kit, this is very similar, except you start with wet hair. This shampoo has great lather, but you have to add a little bit of water with your hands to increase the lather once you’ve applied it to your scalp. If I could give this shampoo 20 stars, I would- It works THAT well for my hair. Also, I follow up with Kristen Ess Hair Mask for light conditioning and then add Kristen Ess Air Dry Crème once I towel off my hair. This has been the best combination I’ve found for my 60 yr old fine-textured gray hair to help tame frizz and keep it healthy.

This stuff is my HOLY GRAIL. I first got it from Ulta and am now repurchasing it after using the whole thing. My scalp gets really dry and flaky and even using things like head and shoulders wasn't 100% effective. Even if the flakiness went away I still felt like my scalp was covered in a layer of dead skin that just wouldn't go away. This scrub is MAGICAL. After using it my scalp feels completely different, clean in a way I've never felt before. After using it in the shower I can immediately feel the difference when the water hits my skin-- it's like it can finally breathe!! I use the scrub very generously and have never had any issues with irritation or anything else. I even use one of those scalp scrubbing brushes with it when flaking is particularly bad and still no irritation, redness, etc. It smells so good (to me atleast, some people might not love it) and the consistency is easy to work into your scalp. It washes out really easily too, same as any regular shampoo or conditioner honestly. Definitely a game changer for me and I'd recommend it to absolutely anyone in a heartbeat :) (I also bought the scalp specific shampoo and conditioner from this brand and love it as well, plus a scalp oil that is surprisingly effective for random dry spots that pop up in between showers!)

I LOVE this shampoo. It makes my scalp feel so clean yet my hair feels so soft and moisturized. They have mastered making your hair feel clean but not stripped. I have curly 3c/4a hair. This product is great for any hair type I believe. I took a chance on this not knowing if it would be great for black hair, and I was not disappointed. I stay away from sweet smelling hair products which is the majority of curly hair care lines so the fresh and clean scent of this drew me in and I’m hooked. My hair seems stronger since I’ve been using this for a few months. One bottle lasts a long time and it’s so easy to apply directly to my scalp with the convenient tip.

Expensive but works well.

I was so hoping this shampoo would work for my sensitive scalp being that it was micellar etc., but it stripped my natural hair terribly. My scalp is dry as a desert. I’ve not seen my hair this lifeless and dry since I was bleaching it in the early 2000s. My hair is a lovely blend of silver, light ash brown and blond - now it feels like I used some harsh hair color crap on it. I DON’T COLOR MY HAIR, ITS NATURAL! Also my scalp is red and inflamed and tons of hair came out after I washed and combed my hair. This one is certainly not for me. Smells nice but destroyed my scalp and lovely hair. Not gentle. No. Also this ingredient: Phenoxyethanol , is a preservative which takes the place of parabens. A Known irritant

Hands down my favorite clarifying shampoo. I’m on a hair health journey this past year, as I spent years bleaching and I’m trying to grow out the fried dead ends. I do color my greys and it doesn’t alter my hair color. It leaves my hair feeling so soft & clean without drying it out, which can be a struggle with my long thick hair. I recently went to a head spa and they ask you to come with dirty hair. She laughed at my before picture (below) because my 4 day old hair was barely oily, and I she didn’t even find any build up. So it does a great job and smells great as well! Highly recommend

I get dandruff pretty badly, and this scalp scrub is a total life changer! My scalp feels and looks healthier, it smells amazing, and it’s definitely worth the money. I use it before shampoo and conditioner (making sure they don’t touch my scalp). I’d also recommend using a scalp scrub comb with it for the best results!

I first saw this at another store and bought it. Glad to see Amazon carries it. My husband and I love it! It feels like it's cleaning and nourishing the scalp. It makes my hair feel very clean but it's not dry. We use it every 3 times we shampoo. It makes my scalp less itchy. Highly recommend.
