It’s the only one we found comparable to the Gizmo, but for people without Verizon. It tracks accurately, the voice calling and messaging is so useful for us when my son was walking home from school. It has parental controls from the app so you can set it to just be a regular watch at school. I have my sons set to only show time during school aside from recess time. I often get texts from him during recess, which I think is the cutest thing. The battery life actually lasts quite a while. After school it would still have over 50% battery. Initially there were some hiccups in battery life, but they must have done an update that increased it dramatically. We love this watch and I can’t see how I ever got on without it! Review: Great tool for a 9yo! - I bought this product as a Christmas present for my 9yo. It hit the mark on almost all expectations. We live in a small town with a ski area and he's an expert skier as are many of his friends. The main points of the purchase were 1) so we could commmunicate when apart, 2) so the GPS feature could let us know where to find him, and 3) so we could do these things without opening up the world of a personal cell phone for him. This hit the mark on all of these. The parental controls that allow us to program in contacts were wonderful. The Do-not-disturb feature wasn't something we'd planned on using, but I suppose it was inevitable that he would take it to school. Activating the DND timing made it so the watch couldn't be a distraction from the moment the bell rang until school got out (but if he really needed something, he could use the emergency feature to call mom only). The GPS feature was great IF the GPS is the position that was reported instead of the nearest cell tower. The GPS position was reported ~50% of the time. This made it usable much of the time, but a bit short of the mark for knowing where he was on the mountain if I'm trying to meet up with him. The call quality was great for our uses, and the audio messages that he could send us proved very useful. It was user friendly enough to communicate, but not so user friendly that he wanted to spend lots of time just "on his watch. I gave 4 stars instead of five for the following reasons: 1) GPS issue mentioned above already, 2) battery life isn't great. On a full charge, we would usually make a full day with it, but it does drain quickly with use. 30-45 minutes of him playing with the watch non-stop could drain from 100% to 35% or so, but we didn't usually have any issues if the day started at 100%, 3) Video calling feature is so slow and choppy that for it was basically non-existent. 4) Watch was listed as IP67 water resistant (up to 1m submersed for 30 minutes), but after in a foot of water, there was water ingress that led to the watch being inoperable. I'm working with their support group and they have offered a 1/2 price replacement. If that comes through successfully, I'll edit the review to reflect that. Overall, a great purchase with some room for improvement, but certainly met most expectations.

Great watch!
We just received this smartwatch. I love knowing I can communicate with my child when needed and my child can communicate with me directly. Face time gives me the most peace of mind. Some parents complained about the watch being able to dial out and add people on their own. Know that the app can control these features if you are uncomfortable with your child having this ability. There is also a firewall protection mode that you can control through the app so your child will not receive unauthorized calls or messages. I love that tick talk partnered up with a company that gives us sufficient access at an affordable rate. My child has not complained about the heat complained by other people even after wearing it for a full day at school. The battery life doesn't wear out as quickly as it seems. About the battery life, once it's 100% full it doesn't die as quickly if it's not used that often. It can easily last up to 3 days if your not using all the time. I only send my child 1 to 5 messages in a day, if any at all. The watch did well in Mexico. We made calls, sent and received messages. There are some downsides. The devices location is not completely accurate but close enough. I wish it had an activity mode. I know my child would love to complete different tasks if the watch had it as games or challenges to do. I will update in a few months with how durable it is, how it does over seas, as well as any updates made to the app or watch that can be downloaded and we can benefit from.

Would be great if it had any sort of battery life
I bought the Tick Talk 3 watch for my 11-year old son to take to school, practices, a friend's house, etc. I really like the design and functionality of the watch. It's easy for him to use, easy for me to program and it serves the purpose we wanted it for. We do not want to get our kids smartphones until they are at least in 8th grade so this appeared to be the basic communication device we were looking for. It's great that we could add it to our existing AT&T mobile plan for just an additional $10 per month. But that's where the good news stops. The battery life on the watch is laughable. I read some of the reviews that spoke to poor battery life so shame on me for still making the purchase. I would say you get a half a day at best out of a full charge. My son has even resorted to turning the watch on airplane mode while at home or at school just to keep the battery from draining so quickly. We left the watch on last night after it had been fully charged and woke up this morning to a completely dead battery. And it's connected to our WiFI so there shouldn't be much power allocated to finding a signal. It's just not functional if you can't get 24 hours (at the very least!) out of a full charge. We'll probably start looking for a better option. It's too bad because the Tick Talk has good potential and my son really loves it. But we are beyond frustrated by the lack of battery life. Buyer beware.
