New tech low cost
Bought on prime and delivered within 24 hours. Phone itself is very good value for money. The battery is very strong and the screen is a good quality large 1080p with a very small notch. Processor runs smooth and the stock android pie is a very nice bonus with the extra features that come with it. Security has face unlock and fingerprint. I set up fingerprint and backed up banking app, Google Pay ect with fingerprint authority all simple and easy. Camera is ok and can take a decent picture or video but very much mid range. Back 16+8 and selfie 16 is still decent enough and does have decent functions and HDR. Gaming works fine although I have not pushed it with heavy games. The red back is the one I purchased and although not glass still comfy to use and feels premium metal. Phone a little thick as holding 5000+mah battery and a little heavy but feels solid. No wireless charge but the fast charge does charge the phone very fast and it has the type c connexion. I found charging takes over 2 hours and screen on time around 12 hours. Speaker ok but not great, Headphones sound quality good. It has NFC so works with Google Pay ect.Writing this after 2nd days use and overall I am happy with purchase. This was upgrade to a S6 which battery made it almost impossible to now use. In comparison the S6 still has some features F1 does not like amoled screen, higher resolution, 4k recording and wireless charging ect but it looks very dated. A new S10 for me? I wanted the freedom of no contract and I don't have a spare grand for a new mobile. The F1 however is cheap enough to buy has up to date design and tech from an up and coming new Chinese brand. It's no flagship and compared to iPhone X or S10 ect it can't compete but it does do value. For me it's a mid range phone with mid range tech. But 2019 mid range is well very decent quality and it does look very nice. Case in box and screen protector already applied. No headphones. UK adapted.

It's a brilliant phone and absolute steal for £150
I've had my fair share of Chinese smart phones over the years because I really detest paying for a label when I can get something of similar performance for about half the price. Umidigi have a customer for life here if they keep producing phones like this. Its built solid and looks nice. The case is the best I've seen come included in the box. The usb type C fast charger does the job of fully charging the phone from dead to 100% in about an hour. All the sensors work as they should. It's fast and I do a ton of gaming on it at which it's brilliant at. Screen looks awesome. The fingerprint reader is terrible out the box but a wireless update fixed this and now it works great. Battery is an absolute monster and lasts me all day with heavy usage. Camera takes decent enough pictures and focuses quickly which has been my main gripe I've had with phones in the past. About a month into ownership and had nothing but a possitive experience with it.

F1 Not quite a Merc but a decent Red Bull
Update...Really happy with the phone. As below, design/battery/screen/performance brilliant. Camera, not bad. In call volume (unless on loud speaker) a touch weak.In the box..SmartphoneRear caseFront protectorUK charging brickUsb c cable (18w fast charge)So, the F1. After abandoning first being a slave to Apple then to Samsung i bought my first Chinese smartphone 18 months ago and was so so impressed. For £99 (on a deal) i couldn't believe what i had. The fashion back then was a huge screen, smallish bezels but a large chin. More about design in a moment.Performance has been pretty good, battery life is HUGE and fast charge. I won't get very technical, you can find reviews for that. The software is stock so was difficult at first to find all the options to set up the phone how i wanted but no bloat ware which is a plus. Plenty of patience needed. The finger print seems good and responsive, the face recognition even better. Because there's no physical home button having the three buttons taking up screen space was annoying. But eventually i found an option to tap and long hold the rear sensor to bypass this. As i said... hunt for those options! The screen is amazing and all the major streaming services work and look great. BBC iplayer, Netflix Amazon Prime etc. Bright colours and good dark black contrasts. Crisp high def pictures are amazing. The speaker when watching content (Netflix etc.) isn't the best but is ok and will do. The in call speaker volume is laughable, so i have the loudspeaker on and turned down a little. The camera isn't the best either but will do also. Pretty good in the light, a little noisy in the dark. Needing an excuse to show off my dog more than anything I've taken a photo with the phones camera but without using any of the camera's software as included.Design wise... obviously fashions change but holding the F1 in the hand does at first feel a step backwards. The performance and specs are brilliant (for the price). There are no complaints when using apps. But, for me I'm having difficulty adjusting to the apparent smaller screen. When in reality it isn't, it's just a different shape. More like holding a S7 Edge rather than my Maze Alpha (see pictures). Until you understand the aspect ratio change (making the handset slimmer and taller rather than fat the whole way around. Hope that makes sense) and the fact that on the F1 the whole of the handset is mostly screen. More than 90%. I'm sure I'll get used to it but as of now I just keep reminding myself is a great piece of kit.In the online pictures the red back looked plasticky or tinny to tap and hold. It isn't. It's solid and not at all cheap. It has a very slight rubber content which is nice to hold. The red isn't blood bright but more of a subtle golden red. I had intended to cover it up but I really like it.So, if you can live with an ok camera and slightly underwhelming speaker, the performance and screen are hugely impressive, the F1 would be a nice purchase.

3 months with the F1 - the good the bad and the ....
Battery life good, screen good, processor fast, case and cosmetics goodThe bad - camera, unimpressive, the speaker poor quality, ( lets be accurate - the sound from the speaker is the worse on any phone I have experienced in the last 10 years - so yes truly awful) fingerprint detector poor, face detection better.the Ugly - software glitches, ring tones working then not working, mobile data connects then will not connect, memory functioning between main phone and mem expansion still a mystery to me.On balance the unreliability of this phone and unpredictability has been disappointing. Also lack of good information on the net has not helped. Good phone to own but it will let u down in key areas in sound, camera and software.

Best Budget Phone I've Ever Used
TL:DR - This is like a 4.5 for me, but I rounded up. It has shortcomings that I expected at this price, but what it excels in, it does an excellent job with. You simply won't find a sub $200 device with this many LTE bands, massive battery, clean Android, and excellent screen at this price point.I purchased this phone in February 2019. First, I’d like to level set expectations in regards to what I expected from a $200 phone(actually, it’s fluctuated from $180 - $220). I expected the typical budget affair: poor camera, poor performance, poor/dim screen quality, occasional crashes, short battery life and no updates. In reality, the two major compromises I’ve found are a mediocre/lower quality camera and no security updates. In many more expensive phones, you’re paying for the camera tech and I simply don’t care about it. It’s on par with my old HTC 10 and that’s fine by me. If you’re into photography, spend the money on the optics and get a flagship device. Regarding updates, Umidigi(and nearly all low cost Chinese companies) doesn’t provide security updates. This is something I knew going in, it’s a tradeoff to get a low price. They only provide performance updates and fix technical issues. The best part about this phone? The battery life. Batteries of this capacity simply aren’t released by your major brands. A Galaxy S10 only has a 3400mah battery and even the more expensive S10+ is 4100mah, compared to this 5150mah. Pair that with a power sipping P60 processor and you’re getting excellent battery life.Processing power is on par with my HTC 10(from 2016), the P60 is slightly slower than a SD820. The downfall of this Mediatek chipset is the lack of BT 5.0 as it only supports 4.2. This means if you want to use “true wireless” earbuds, then one bud must connect to the other first, then the phone. This is phone also has an occasional stutter issue where it needs to resync. I compare this to an old CD that’s skipping. This happens every 30 minutes or so of using BT audio, not a huge issue to me.The screen is bright and crisp for the price, very much a surprise to me. I absolutely love it. Slim bezels and no giant notches to be found, just a “waterdrop” style notch similar to a OnePlus 6T/7Something that most don’t even consider is LTE Bands. The F1 has B13 which is mandatory for Verizon. In addition, it has loads of other bands which is excellent for international travelers like myself. You simply won’t find this many bands on sub $200 phones. The F1 has a relatively clean version of Android P, but it lacks some gestures and has replaced stock icons in the status bar as well. You can thank some of the Umidigi Forum members for pushing that one. On Umidigi’s forums, I found members complaining they couldn’t see the battery % in the status bar unless they pulled it down, so Umidigi changed the battery icon. Now, for the tricky part to using in the US. I understand this phone works fine out of the box for ATT/T-Mobile with some APN adjustments, but if you want to use Verizon or a Verizon MVNO, you MUST have an activated SIM card on Verizon’s network that is also capable of VoLTE to make this work on the F1. You MUST put the SIM card into the second SIM slot to change the APN values on it. Then you can return it to the first SIM slot and service will work just fine. I get full LTE speeds and crisp VoLTE on Verizon(Total Wireless). The worst part of these devices is the lack of support and security updates. Granted, I’m not one to ever reach out to a company’s tech support unless the device is completely defective. Lack of security updates means I’ll probably keep this device for about a year before upgrade. I plan on selling this device once Umidigi releases and Android Q based device. I can probably get $100 back just selling the phone used anyway.Overall, this phone has blown away my expectations. I’ve had it for 5 months and have had only a single crash. It works reliably. I highly recommend this as a great budget phone for those who prioritize battery life, low cost and lots of LTE bands for use on multiple carriers. If you’re on Verizon, I advise you understand how to manipulate APN settings and not expect any support from Verizon. Don’t blame Verizon or Umidigi for you own incompetence or inability to research how to make an unlocked international phone work. If you want the “just insert my SIM card into the phone and it works” experience, buy a carrier branded device.Pros:Excellent battery life – multi day performanceGreat screen quality – It’s bright and lacks the large ugly notches that some phones have, slim bezels as well.LTE Bands – very few sub $200 has nearly as many LTE bands as this. Perfect for international travelers like me, or those with Verizon in the US who needs B13Excellent Value – given the design, performance, LTE Bands, ect, nothing comes too close3.5mm jack – I still have one headset left that uses it, so I still find this useful for meCons:No Security Updates – something I knew when purchasing the phoneCamera Quality – Their last update reintroduced image stabilization again, but overall, the photos can be a bit grainy and low light performance is bad.Inconsistent Fingerprint Scanner – Works about 75% of the time for meOccasional Bluetooth Stuttering – Every 30 mins or so using Bluetooth audioMediocre Memory Management - I sometimes see it reloading apps when switching to one that’s still open

An incredible phone for a tiny price!!
I've had this phone for exactly a month now. I bought it to replace my old one that was having battery issues. I did a lot of research before deciding on this one. The main factors I take into account are price, battery capacity, expandable storage and internal storage. I was happy that this one had 128gb of internal storage (coming from a phone that had only 32gb, this is fantastic!) as I download a lot of apps. I also have a 256gb SD card installed. I prefer to keep my music and photos stored on an external card so it's easier to transfer between phones when the time comes. I don't imagine I'll ever run out of space with this combo of storage.Battery life is great. This is coming from someone whose nose is in their phone pretty much every waking minute. I also use it for work and the screen is on steadily for 8+ hours a day (though I do keep it on the charger as often as possible while working). When it's not on the charger it'll still be good for almost all day with pretty heavy usage. It charges really quickly as well. It does not have wireless charging, but for me that wasn't an issue at all as wireless is usually really slow. The only time I'd ever been able to use it on my old phone was when I was sleeping and didn't need it to charge quickly. The fingerprint reader is okay. Definitely not perfect. When it works it's super fast. The thing I don't like is without the case on it, it's harder to use the reader as it's flush with the back of the phone, making it harder to find and get your finger on it properly the first time. It does have a different texture, but it's still annoying. I always have the case on it though and there's a hole for the reader so it's easier to find and use. Face unlock works well also and has a setting you can turn on so that the screen lights up if you're in a darker environment to aid in face recognition. I'd say it works about 90% of the time. I actually have the face recognition turned off though; to use it you press the power button and it immediately goes into face recognition mode. Typically if I'm hitting the power button it's just to check the time or the notifications, and you don't have time to see anything if face unlock is on.The biggest two issues I have had:Bluetooth. I saw some inklings of issues with Bluetooth dropping out periodically in other reviews before I got the phone. It comes with Bluetooth 4.1 which is odd because 4.2 is probably the norm and most newer devices now have 5.0. The issue I had was that my Bluetooth receiver in my car (one you plug into the cigarette lighter - I don't have Bluetooth in the car itself) is 4.2. It would cut and skip constantly, almost as if a cd was skipping. It made music completely unlistenable. It would have been a deal breaker and I was already looking for a different phone while I was waiting for a new Bluetooth receiver that had 4.1 to come in the mail. I honestly didn't expect it to make any difference, since I've never had an issue like that with any other device, and Bluetooth is backwards compatible. But for whatever reason, it works flawlessly with the newer receiver. So if you get this phone and have a terrible Bluetooth connection, try getting a receiver that has 4.1.The other issue I have is with gestures. At least that what I think it is. The phone gives you the option to either have buttons on the screen for back, menu and home, or you can use gestures. Since the buttons seem to take up a good bit of the bottom of the screen and I just generally don't like how they look, I've opted to use gestures. The gestures themselves work fine. But there is something that I can't figure out; whenever I'm typing, a certain area or movement or press in a specific area makes the entire app I'm in disappear and go to the home screen. If you're a fast typer, it happens while you're still typing and you'll end up hitting another app icon and opening it by accident. I have NO idea what exactly is happening when it does this and it drives me nuts. It happens pretty much any time I'm typing in any app. (It happened already while I was trying to type out this review so I'm actually typing it now in a note app and will have to copy and paste it, because when it takes you out of an app when that happens, opening it back up will just bring you back to the main part of said app. So in other words while I was writing out this review and it happened, when I opened Amazon up again it wasn't back at the review page, it was on Amazon's main home page.)The camera leaves a lot to be desired, but I don't use it much so for me it's not a big deal. It's laggy in that if you use the flash, it actually flashes a half a second or so after you hit the shutter button. It's weird and I don't know if this is the new norm with cameras on phones or what, but things don't seem to be as brightly lit with the flash as phones I've had in the past. I did just get an update to the phone this morning that strangely installed a second stock camera app, and it has a few more features than the original stock camera, but the same flash style. The original one does have pro mode which I prefer to use a lot as I take a lot of low-light photos (at night) and the new one doesn't, but the old one doesn't have as many other features - selfie filters similar to snapchat (which are really cute and fun to have built in!), different color modes (b&w, sepia, etc.), facial recognition among them. This phone also has NFC and works with Google Pay, which I've never had before and have found useful. It's convenient for those times when one is just running a quick errand, this way one doesn't have to take an entire wallet or purse. That all said though, for the price, I think this is a really great phone and I'm glad I got it. I appreciate that it comes with a case (though I do wish it was clear instead of black, since I got the red version of the phone) and a screen protector pre-installed. It's been very fast and responsive, hasn't frozen or stopped at all. The screen is big and bright and I love that it's all screen. The few minor issues I have with it are definitely just that - minor, and don't have a negative impact on my thoughts about the phone as a whole. If you're looking for an inexpensive powerhouse, I'd definitely recommend this one!

Seriously, $200 for this??
Update on 3/6/2019:I just tried Camera's Pro Mode again and it now works. You change ISO and it adjusts the shutter speed accordingly. No idea what happened. I'm positive that previously it only stamped bogus ISO numbers on the photo with the same shutter speed. It also supports RAW file that I didn't notice before. With the RAW file and Pro Mode, the camera is quite a bit more usable than I initially thought. Umidigi, if you are reading this, please make EV compensation work in Pro Mode. It doesn't currently, and that means you can't control the exposure. Better yet, make the shutter speed control available. Meanwhile the Bokeh mode still remains fairly useless.Original:Let's get the camera issues out of the way first. I do photo for hobby and I can tell you that it's not the best there is.- Low light adds awful lot of noise so don't even bother pixel peeping.- The noise reduction filter seems weak.- It takes decent picture if you have enough light. Indoor shots with normal lighting works, though not consistently, as long as you don't mind some noise.- White balance seems ok.- It has aliasing problem. AA filter is lacking obviously, but it's problem is worse than my MFT camera without AA.- There is a Pro mode, but it doesn't give you the shutter speed control. And changing ISO seems to have much effect. You'd think lowering ISO would increase the shutter time but it doesn't. And the picture comes out exactly the same. So it seems rather useless fake that only stamps the selected ISO number on the photo. White balance control and EV compensation works though. There is no reason to touch those in this phone however, so the whole Pro mode is rather useless.- The pictures generally come out a bit too contrasty, luminosity-wise. Highlights are easily blown up and details in shadow are undicernable. It's probably due to the lack of dynamic range of the sensor. See the sample pic: the first one, taken with LG G6 has more detail in the highlight and shadow than the second one taken with F1.- Stereo/Bokeh mode doesn't work to work too well. It adds a little more blur when lighting is good, but not worth having 2nd lens for. Worse yet, it blurs part of the subject if you are not careful. The whole point of having blurred background is to separate the foreground, so that makes it practically useless.- Focus doesn't work too well in general, and in a close distance or moving objects in general. You need to be patient and catch the right moment or take multiple shots. So, in all, it's servicable for a phone but certainly not anything to write home about. If camera is important to you, you may want to go for S3 Pro or F1 Play with Sony IMX586 sensor. But sensor is not everything, so I'll wait for the review to see if they've done the camera right. The speaker is mediocre too as others noted. It has whispy, papery sound to it and you don't want to go over 80% for the best result. And the screen doesn't dim too low so you may stick out badly if you use it in a pitch dark theater.Quality-wise, it seems to be solid except for the SIM slot which broke after I reinserted the SIM a few times. A pin got bent and stuck out. This is probably a fluke, so I'm not taking stars off for it. It doesn't seem to effect the functionality anyway. sNow, good stuff:- The display is phenomenal. It's not as bight as my G6, but it's bright enough and colors are quite accurate. Use the standard color mode for accuracy. The vivid mode is over-saturated and you'll end up with blown out color, in red especially. If you want more pop, use the user color mode and tune it from the standard color.- The battery lasts over 6 minutes per 1% watching video at half the brightness. That means it should last over 10 hours of watching movies. And it charges at the rate of 1% per minute which is about 18W.-110 GB free space! Need I say more?- Global band support. It includes CB0 and CB1 as well as all LTE bands. That is rarity for a budget Chinese phone. This will enhance the resale value for sure. My Nexus 5X also supported all bands and I sold it to a Verizon user in no time.Anyway, I'm in a wonderment: how is it possible for anyone to make a phone like this for $200?? I mean, I paid $270 for my old Nexus 5X with 2/8 GB and that thing was slow as hell. This Umi F1 is literally 10 times the phone for less money, (except for the camera which Nexus 5X excelled by far). I guess we have hard working Chinese to thank for bringing all these good stuff to us at dirt cheap prices. Once Umi bring the camera up to the standard, they would be unbeatable.

Almost there Umidigi
I really like this phone, it is a good size, great looking screen, incredible battery life, pure android with no bloat. It’s responsive, quick and overall a great device. Now for what it’s not. I have T-Mobile, and the phone shows 4g LTE, but the speed was never more that 4 down and 1 up. Video buffered, maps functioned but we’re slow; basically anything that required robust data suffered. In my area T-Mo relies on some the bands that this phone doesn’t support. Other areas and carriers support different bands so a look at the service support site is warranted. Check your carriers support in your area. Some sites work excellent. The camera could use some work, but I don’t take a lot of photos, and most of what I do take are just routine snaps of things I want to remember, so that isn’t a dealbreaker for me. Sometimes I have to take several to get a good shot. The fingerprint reader and the face unlock works, but neither 100% of the time. Unfortunately the phone just doesn’t fit what I need. I like nearly everything about it. It's price and capabilities/function it is probably a great choice for casual users or replacement for a damaged phone or even for teens that can be a little rough on gear. The phone has better specs than most of the big name manufacturers at the price point considering it’s features and capabilities.

Umidigi - Stay Away - NO SECURITY UPDATES
First off Umidigi Support is the worst - They never respond to tickets opened via their own website. All of their phone that they import to the US do not have Emergency Alert Settings anywhere. Second they advertise pure android when its not. Android One is pure Android. They advertise that their phones work with ATT – wrong – you only get half of the bands they say you do and you have to go in and customize the APN since it has old settings. The phones that have Android Pie have only January security patches… Their phones do not have E911 settings. The fingerprint reader only works about 25% of the time, Sound quality is subpar. The camera is decent but nothing to write home about – slow to snap and pictures come out pixelated, It will not connect to either of my cars Bluetooth functionality, Notification come in when they feel like it – gmail, yahoo, skype, outlook and a few other application – Yes all the settings are correct… Its decent for a backup or a kids phone but not as a daily driver. This will be the last Umidigi I purchase since Umidigi refuses to help and Amazon’s support fix for everything is just to return it.NO SECURITY UPDATES at all - The F1 has Android 9 and 2019 Security Updates... Explain that UMIDIGI ????Quality control is the worst.Have used it for a few days as a daily driver and here is what i thinkGOOD:1. Battery life decent but slow to charge2. Size of screenBAD:1. Camera is probably on par for a $25 phone - horrible pictures2. Memory is suppose to be 4gb. With nothing installed it uses around 2.6 to 2.9gb so there is not much left over for actual applications.3. Not stock android, it has weird icons for battery, wifi and notifications. Does not have adaptive battery settings.4. Not really 4G LTE, more like hit or miss depending on where you are at. More like 3G with turbo.5. The APN settings are very outdated and you have to go in and change to work with AT&T or T-Mobile.6. Does not have E911 or Emergency Alerts settings7. The fingerprint reader is subpar for 2019. Only reads it about 25% of the time and the facial recognition is not anything to write home about either.8. They use Adups to update in stead of Google based updating, firmware updates are hit or miss. Most of the time they fix 1 thing and break more...Don't expect any support from them at all.. I have opened 2 tickets with them and they have yet to respond.
