It's sized for infants and toddlers with heads measuring 18.75 to 20.5 inches in diameter. 20 vents with built-in bug netting keep your child's head cool. Giro's Mini-Loc fit system features simple strap guides. Fitting a Helmet Here are some guidelines to getting the best fit for a bike helmet. Eyes: The rim of the helmet should be up to 1 to 2 finger widths above the eyebrows Ears: The straps should form a V under just beneath the ear lobe Mouth: When the rider opens her mouth, the buckle should feel snug on the chin and the helmet should hug the head Before using the helmet, stand in front of the mirror and grab the helmet with both hands and twist it to the left and to the right. If the helmet fits right, the skin on the forehead will move as the helmet moves. If it does not, then the helmet is too loose and is unsafe for use and you need to start over. About Giro Working late nights in his garage, designer/bike racer Jim Gentes created the first lightweight adult cycling helmet in 1985. Friends at NASA helped tune the final helmet shape and vent placement, and the result was the Giro Prolight, a helmet that was better looking than traditional designs while offering a superior fit and still met the industry's toughest safety standards. Plus, it was half the weight of traditional helmets. Since then, Giro has advanced its helmets, many of which have set the standards for styling, function, and innovation for progressive, performance-oriented riders on dirt, pavement, and snow. Giro helmets are worn by millions of riders, cyclists, skiers, and snowboarders around the world. Young-bloods and old-timers; hard-cores, heshers, and hipsters; rookies, experts, and a few regular Joes too--in fact, pretty much anyone that appreciates superior fit and function, cutting edge styling, and the very best ideas you get in a helmet.

Everyone please steer away from the crappy product. There are better options out there
After a few of uses, the black plastic strap fell off.Upon close examination, they are attached to the helmet by couple of sticky pads. Not worth having my child getting hurt with it. It's been a few months so can't return it. Everyone please steer away from the crappy product. There are better options out there.

Don't buy! The black insert comes out and makes helmet useless!
As other reviews state, the black plastic part in the helmet falls out and deems the entire helmet useless! What a waste of money. I reviewed helmets thoroughly before purchasing and thought this was the best choice. Even worth spending the extra money to ensure my daughter's safety. Well, at the time, no one said anything about this happening. I even tried placing this headpiece back inside and slipping the helmet on her head to see if maybe it would still work, (because my rationale was "how on earth could something essential to the helmet, just come out?) but no... It does not work. It slides down on her face and neck and not will stay in. What a joke. Do not buy!!

Inner band comes off way too easily (velcro and glue)
As noted in some of the other negative reviews, the inner band which cinches around the head is attached to the helmet itself with velcro pads. If the kid is in a bike seat or trailer that has any objects around their head (like a headrest) the back of the helmet will catch and the helmet will basically torque off their head, leaving them with the inner band around their head and the helmet hanging down their face. This is due to a combination of both the velcro not having a lot of grip on the band and the velcro pads themselves coming unglued from the helmet.Even if they're riding in a carrier that doesn't involve their head coming in contact with a seat or trailer, I don't have confidence that it would stay on in even a minor impact if it pops off when a ten month old (who is burly, but still) turns his head.I have two Giro adult helmets and I can't fathom why they made this helmet this way.

Adorable helmet that will grow with your child.
I read a lot of reviews before making my purchase. If you are like me, look no further. This helmet is built to last and grow with your child. My son was 10 months old when I purchased it. There is so much space for growth. However, with that being said even though it is secure, when looking at it from a distance, it appears to be big because of the about of growth that it allows for. The helmet is easy to adjust in order to get a secure fit, breathable, and appears to be comfortable (my son doesn’t try to take it off). My son wears sunglasses with the helmet, but the visor does reduce the amount of sun going into his eyes. Great product, built to last.

Nice helmet, not sure if it's good for an infant.
I'm giving this helmet four stars because first and foremost I do not think this should be called and infant helmet. We bought this for our 10 month old to ride in our bike trailer. The helmet comes with an adjustable back strap that tightens to fit her head. It does fit, but the problem is that it creates a large gap between the strap (the back her head) and the back of the helmet. What this means is that her head is pushed forward and down when she's sitting in the trailer. So I think that creates more of a safety hazard for her. Her head is in the 50th percentile so it's not an overly small head or anything. I'm not completely sure if this would work if she wasn't resting her head on anything, helmet seems a little heavy for her too despite having good neck and head control.I gave it four stars because the helmet is cute and is good quality. I think it will work great for her next summer when she's a little older and her head gets a bit bigger.

Perfect for our one year old
We bought this for our thirteen month old, and it fits him perfectly. To give you an idea of size, at his doctor's appointment last month, his head had an 18.5 inch circumference (74th percentile). I'd say he could have a slightly smaller head and it would still fit okay. There's also plenty of room for him to grow; I'm guessing it'll fit him until he's at least two and a half, maybe three years old.I'm actually a little jealous of this helmet - it's way nicer than mine. It's really easy to adjust, so we loosen it every time we take it off (using the wheel in the back), and tighten it to make sure it fits snugly whenever we put it on. The straps are also easy to adjust, but he can pull them away from his chin pretty easily because he's still a little pudgy. I'm not sure any helmet would be better, though. He wasn't a huge fan of it the first time he wore it, but by the second, he got used it. Now he likes to fidget with the air vents and feel the texture change between the plastic and styrofoam. It also looks really cute on him. The colors are a lot more vibrant than I expected from the photos, and the sun visor is the perfect size. It also looks big enough to protect his nose the next time he face plants by jumping over the handlebars of his trike. We're really happy with this purchase, and are glad his little noggin is going to be kept safe.

This helmet was one of the suggested purchases to go with the bike seat that I purchased. I am glad I did! At first my 11 month old resisted it but once we were moving, she was comfortable. Now she loves her helmet. It fits her perfect, with an adjustable fit. She is now 14 months and wearing it still. It looks adorable, it covers most of her head while also helping to provide some overhead shade from the extended front. It is lightweight and adorable.
