Perfect for large above ground pool
UPDATE 11/2024: After 5 years of use, we still rate with 5 stars! We keep the heater running 24/7 June to Sept every year. Even upgraded to a bigger 20 x 54 permanent above ground pool and this works great with the significantly upgraded pump/ filter system. If you are a serious pool owner and keep your pool clean, this is an excellent investment for your family.Original Review: We have tried everything available to heat up our 18x 52 Intex metal post pool. We have had the pool for over 12 years and love it!. However, we don’t get to use it as much as we would like because the kids would complain that it is too cold. We moved to a new place that has a very shaded back yard. We only get sun on the pool from 11 am to 2pm. We resorted to buying the kids wetsuits so they could swim!Well, I am pleased to report that this heater WORKS! Our pool is holding steady at 84 degrees and we live in a Seattle suburb. Last week it was 72 degrees outside and the pool was still at 84. We do not have a solar cover on it yet, but that is in the mail. We did find that the water is evaporating and a higher rate than we are used to, so we highly recommend that you cover your pool when not in use.We purchased the 120v version and just plug the dang thing into an outlet. We do have ours running 24/7 since we have a really good pump and it keeps the pool super clean. We upgraded the pump from the one that came with the pool. See photo. My hubby is obsessed with keeping the pool clean so that is also an added bonus. This all sounds great right? Be prepared to get frustrated with connecting the heater through your pump filter system. You will need lots of cash for the swear jar! You will need to find some PVC and connectors that will work with your current system and keep it from leaking. See photo of our “jimmy rigged” connection. It’s not pretty, but it works and does not leak!Bottom line: if you really want to use your above ground pool without freezing your kids, BUY THIS HEATER! We are extremely happy that we finally caved and bought it. Wishing that this was available a long time ago.

Works well for above ground pool
The plumbing connections are relatively simple if you’ve done any plumbing with pvc before. Plan on using copious amounts of Teflon tape on all connections which aren’t glued or you will have leaks. The unit started right up and warmed my pool temperature by 8 degrees over the course of a few days with air temperatures in the mid to high 70’s.(In conjunction with a solar cover) Our yard has lots of shade, we only get about 2-3hrs of sun on our pool each day. When I unpacked the unit I was a little concerned because there was a small dent on one of the corners of the unit. But it appears this is only cosmetic as the unit appears to be running well at this time. I had my electrician run a dedicated 20amp gfi outlet to plug the unit into and I connected the plumbing. I used two three way valves so that I can isolate the heater when I want shock the pool or vacuum. Due to the inline chlorinator I have, a valve to prevent backflow needed to be installed to prevent high concentrations of chlorine from back flowing into the heater. We are excited at the prospect of not having a freezing cold pool due to our shady yard. Our pool is 54” deep by 18’ round, above ground. Thank you Fibropool for what seems like a quality product.

Does not work, support will not answer, call back, or make any contact with me after ordering
I had this professionally installed and the heat pump does not work. Understandable as there is always a risk a product could be defective or damaged during shipping. I attempted all of the tricks and followed advice on settings per the manual and youtube videos. It still does not work. What is not acceptable is the complete failure to have any customer service or tech support to troubleshoot. The "support number" goes to an answering machine. You can call over and over for days and will never get an answer. It allows you to leave a voicemail for a call back, which I have done multiple times with no response. I have guests staying in the home that were expecting a pool heater, and sadly they will not have one as it looks I'll need to get my money back.Take your money elsewhere to a company that has some basic level of product support should the customer face issues.Update: This review is being updated some time later - eventually someone from support assisted, and the pool heater was verified to be "working." It required humidity, and is located in a humid area but despite that, when it did work, it never was able to heat the pool much , maybe 5-10 degrees max after days of running. However, it lasted for only 1-2 winter seasons working poorly, and this year once turned on, there is no functionality at all. Everything verified to be in order, but the unit didn't last. To this day, one of the worst purchases I've made and will be spending only a bit more for a dramatically better product from black n decker.
