When I got them they were not sharp. Would not cut into a soft wood I was planning on making a spoon out of. Pretty disappointed. They are easy to hold and seem to be good quality. Just disappointed in the fact they were not sharp.

I was so excited to take on wood whittling! I anxiously waited for these knives to arrive in the mail. However, when they arrived, they wouldn't even cut through cardboard let alone a piece of wood. Both knives were extremely dull. I sharpened them with the sharpener that came in the box and still no difference. Don't buy these! I doubt they would even cut through a piece of paper. I will be returning.

This came without an edge on it, which I've come to expect with cheaper cutting tools, but it also lacked a real, finished bevel. I returned it. Naming no names (BeaverCraft), there are other value spoon knives out there.

I have never carved anything before buying this set!!! And although I'm left handed I have been enjoying carving a wood spirit spoon lady from a stick I found on a hike... I don't know much about carving knives ,but these I find to be pretty solid and easy to work with... Will update if my opinion changes...

These knives are great for the price, However; they need serious sharpening and honing before use. the price is great though. I guess you get what you pay for. I would recommend them only to an experienced carver, because of the need to hone and sharpen so much.

Ok so I did not rate it highly because the blades are dull. Water pressure cuts im sure. The angles are way off for carving. If you order these get your wet stone ready. Remember you get ehat you pay for. Once its all said and done though and sharpened its gravy.

I purchased this set to start some little wood projects. I am now an addict. The set comes with the sloyd, hook knife, and a file to keep them sharp. They come sharp and ready to use. I would recommend this for anyone who is starting out carving.

These knives are great for small hand carving projects. The handles and control of the blades feel great and it's easy to make small, detailed cuts. I've already started spoon carving projects with them and these knives make it all the better.
