Truly can be a recovery Guide
I think this book has the potential of truly helping a dedicated person overcome compulsive use of porn. It begins by clearly spelling out the many negative consequences of habitually using porn, which needs to be clarified and comprehended by porn users as they begin their journey to recover. Being the wife of a recovering compulsive porn user, I strongly appreciate the in-depth explanation of a partner's emotions when secret porn is discovered. It was worth reading just to learn that other partners feel as devastated as I have felt over the last several weeks. My emotions are all over the place and match almost exactly the authors' description. (I guess I am a textbook case.) Somehow it soothed me, to some degree, to found out that my emotions were normal--my husband thought I was overreacting. After all, "all men use porn." A chunk of the book provides steps and strategies to ending porn addiction. It also has advice that can help partners ride out their strong negative emotions and heal. However, I would say the main emphasis is on helping the porn user rather than the suffering partner.

Excellent Clinical Resource
I am a licensed independent clinical social worker and addictions professional working in a unique environment. I have noticed the significant increase of clientele who have entered our institution with not only a pornography addiction, but it had escalated into viewing of child porn. I have decided to develop an educational course solely for our pornography addicts and purchased three books to review. "The Porn Trap" is not only an excellent resource for those who are overcoming problems caused by pornography, it is a excellent resource for the actual development of my group; along with the educational DVD I purchased.I recommend this book to both professionals and clients!

Great Book
My expectations when I bought the book was to learn about how pornography affects the dynamics of relationships. From a personal perspective I have used pornography and before I even picked up this book I knew that it affected how I interacted with other people because of guilt, shame, and the sexual objectivity I place on women. It was very enlightening to read about the many different situations individuals went through in the book. Pornography is a very scary thing and the stories in this book showcased the tragic impacts it has on people. Not only how it can result in a lost job, wife, or family, but many of these men use pornography as an outlet of intimacy and rob themselves and their wives of a fulfilling intimate relationship. It is very tragic to realize this because so many people will walk through life and not experience the abundance of joy that could come from that. I am not married, but I hope to experience that one day too. In today's culture I would recommend everyone read this if I could... God bless

I realize saying I love book like this is dubious at best
I realize saying I love book like this is dubious at best. But Maltz understands the seduction of porn. As a clinician I am always on the look out for good resources and this is one.

I Purchased a 2nd copy of "Porn Trap"
The Porn Trap by Wendy Maltz & Larry Malz (hardcover) Harper-Collins 2008 was such a hard hitting insightful book, that I gave the original to a good friend, who needed the intense awareness of this books excellent coverage of the subject matter. I ordered a 2nd copy from Amazon.com for myself, as reference material, as I compare this book with some of Patrick Carne's excellent material from his books on sexual addiction...."Out of the Shadows" and "In the Shadows of the Net". My most favorite one is "The Porn Trap", and I may order a 3rd copy of "the Porn Trap" for another individual I am tryng to help (again) in a self-help program in my community. The copy sent to me thru Amazon.com was brand new, was flawless, and was shipped to me very fast!!!! Thank you for the fast, efficient and professional service!!!

helpful context and advice
One of my friends was married to someone battling the porn addiction. I borrowed this book from her to help understand what she and her husband were going through, and it was extremely helpful. It helped to provide a context and helpful advice.

Really Helpful Book
I read this book to be able to understand a loved one going through childhood trauma and addiction better. This book was really helpful and insightful for me to understand what they were going through a bit clearer and help understand their poor choices and how the addiction started and progressed. I would really recommend it to anyone in a similar position to me who has found themselves wanting to better understand a loved ones actions and addictions.

Easy and honest
Clear and easy to read without getting too heavy. Good to make you realise how easy it is to get addicted to porn and will make you see your own porn use for what it is and if you have a problem with it. Give good advice about what to do next.

Another Taboo.
A fascinating collection of evidence accompanied with accounts of victims who have shared their stories with the authors. Useful for both males and females looking to become mindful on the taboo!
