I gave it one star because I could not give it zero stars.
I was extremely disappointed with this pamphlet. It has two good features, it is short and free.First, the inaccuracies: The author equates the semi-automatic. civilian AR-15 with the full-auto M-16 and M-4 military weapons. The author gives rates of fire for the AR-15 that are flatly impossible, without a belt feed. No one can fire any semi-automatic 800 times in a minute. That means pulling the trigger 13 times a second, plus reloading 26 magazines in a minute. He keeps up this confusion of the three weapons through the text.Secondly, the author states the reason for hunting is the "love of killing." The idea is wrong on many levels. It shows a complete lack of understanding. After hunting for more than 60 years in several states, for many types of game, I can say that I have never heard of a hunter that would not be insulted by his statement. This is an example taken from one page, but the shallow understanding of shooting sports follows through the text.Thirdly, it looks like the author downloaded a few accessory sales brochures and copied the text verbatim. There is little to no comparison of features. no field test anecdotes, no pitfalls. Hundreds of accessories, he discusses half a dozen. Finally, he makes it sound easy and safe to do modifications to a weapon. Like dropping in a trigger assembly. This is not a job for someone who is satisfied with a book like this. Many modifications of a weapon can get the shooter or bystanders killed. I wonder if he has ever modified a weapon, past adding magnetic sights to a shotgun barrel.I am sorry to be so critical of his labor. A real expert would have done some research before writing it.

Very disappointed and the title is deceptive.
I bought this book for my husband, who is in the military and is also a gun enthusiast. He was really hoping to learn more from this book, but it is really a very basic book for beginners that know nothing about the AR-15. He was hoping there would be a large list of numerous upgrades available, as that is what the title suggests, but that is not what it is at all. There are SO many aftermarket accessories that you can buy for the AR-15 and he was hoping for more information about what is available and features he should look for when checking out new accessories. Instead, it is filled with promos for products that they are trying to convince you to buy. It's essential a catalog for all their partners! He was not pleased at all, and needless to say we are happy that the book didn't cost us anything. Very disappointed and the title is deceptive.

Not sure the author understands what it means to write a book
As many other people have said, this is just a list of products. The odd thing is that if you type nearly any sentence in the book into Google, you will get a link to the original product advertisement or listing. The author took the original listings and changed each sentence slightly, with new grammar or by reordering the words, or by changing the punctuation. This is not how you write a book; it's how you write a term paper without getting downgraded for plagiarism.

Glad I didn't spend any money on this.
I picked this up on the Kindle store when I saw that it was free and while the writing is solid and the recommendations made sense for anyone new to the AR platform especially if you have a more typical 16 inch carbine model. But overall if have any experience with firearms in general and even more so with the AR platform there is nothing here that hasn't been covered by a dozen gun mags or forums before. One thing that did strike me as odd is the inclusion of the old Surefire Mag5-100 and -60 casket mags as these otherwise had a mediocre reputation and are no longer available outside of the collector's market at considerable cost.

Great for someone looking to scratch the surface on upgrades
This book was good for someone who bought or is looking to buy a bone stock AR15. It discusses historical facts which are interesting. This ebook will help give ideas to future investments into your AR. For many of the parts they seem to favor the authors preference or sponsorship, but the possibilities are really endless with available options now and in the future for the AR platform. Good short read.

Great for those new to the AR-15, not for experienced users
If you are new to the AR-15, this book provides a very good overview of accessories to modify your AR. But it is just an overview of the many parts available, for example only listing two handguards, flash suppressors, and triggers - without any mention of the many other models on the market. Where two options are listed, it does not provide a comparison so a reader can know why one might be better for them than another. And other subjects, I consider important, such as choice of barrel length and profile or caliber, are not discussed at all. If you are new to the AR platform this book will introduce you to some of the many upgrades available. But it will not tell you why one buttstock may be better for you than another or give you a comprehensive review of all possible upgrades. And those experienced with the AR platform will fine little to add to what they already know.

Decent but thin...
The upgrades covered in this book are solid for someone learning the AR platform for the first time, and I think handy as a general reference. However, the book overall lacks depth other than going over "products". I expected a book that would do that, plus cover some general modifications (without products necessarily) that can be made to an AR as "Must Have Upgrades". Things like changing trigger springs, polishing parts, etc... I would be nice. There are lots of things that can be done to any AR without buying "products" to improve the gun, that would be nice additions to this book.

What book?
I'll save everyone from having to look at this. This is more like a catalog for magpul industries. If you've ever shopped for an AR, you pretty much know what's in the "book" and why it's there. Anytime spent reviewing a catalog for an accessory manufacturer/seller provides more useful information. At the very end there's a nice plug for, what I can only assume is the author's, Web site.I got it for free and still feel ripped off. I truly miss the 10 minutes of my life it took to download and quickly flip through this "book."
