Good value...
For the money, this is a fun way to make your own noodles. They turn out more evenly than if you were cutting by hand. However, I can't really say that it was much faster than if I had rolled and cut them on my own. I am not an experienced noodle-maker, but I thought this was relatively user friendly. I did need to apply vaseline to the ends of the noodle cutters on only our second usage of it. Also, it was difficult for me to find a good spot to clamp it to. Our table was too wide. The countertop didn't have enough of a lip to it (when I would try to tighten it, the knob for tightening would run into my kitchen drawers). In the end, I opened up a drawer and clamped it to the countertop above the drawer. However, my counter top edge has a bit of a curve to it, so it still didn't clamp well and made it a little trickier to use. I would probably give this a three star rating instead of a four, but I don't know how much of my lack of efficiency in using it was due to my own inexperience, and the inevitable fact of life that making your own noodles may be fun and possibly healthier, but it is not faster!

Solid and Well Built - Dont Believe Bad Reviews!!!
If you make the dough too sticky, it rips... if you just add more flour its fine! I think the ones who say its cheap, dont know what they are doing, just jamming the dough in there and expecting some kind of miracle to happen, this is not computer controlled, its Human controlled, Just use a tiny bit of brain!!!Im an amateur and figured out quickly that you must roll out the dough a little first with a rolling pin! then its a breeze, just take a time and do a practice run first, before you plan out a meal! its not study, its familiarity! roll out a dough (4 cups of flour 3 eggs, teaspoon salt add small amounts of water as needed) piece about 4" wide and 1 foot long and start with the pasta makers thickest setting (7) and crank out slowly then change the setting to 6 then do it again, then adjust setting to 4 and roll out, thats about as thin as you need for Ravioli or Linguini...wait till you have a littme more experience before you try the Spaghetti roller, it requires a little more dough precision, at least in my opinion.yeah its small but it is WELL Built and the gears and crank are not cheap at all, they work like they should. if your a brute force type person this will not work like it should, but if you use brain instead of brute, you will do just fine!Don't hesitate to buy this, its cheap in price but high in quality! JUST DO NOT TRY TO WASH IT! YOU CANNOT WASH A PASTA MAKER!!!

good product for the value
I was skeptical for a pasta machine at this price and read all the review on Amazon. I decided some of the complaints might be valid, while others sound like some customers just didn't get the dough right to begin with, or didn't know that you have to separate or hang pasta dry regardless what machine you use.Anyway, I think at this price it's worth a try and ordered it. It arrived really fast and the heavy gauge stainless steel worth the 20 dollar. I didn't have any problem with the roller and the two cut settings. It is really easy to use even that I am not a seasoned pasta chef. I haven't used it enough to break it, so I don't know the durability of this machine. If it stays the way it's working now, it's great. I didn't rate it five because the handle do have a tendency of being pulled off during rolling because it is only inserted, althoug it isn't a big deal. A locking mechanism would be helpful.

Works well for small amounts of pasta
I purchased this for my son who is an aspiring chef (he graduates from high school in 2 months). It works perfect for our household. It's not something I would recommend for those planning on making large amounts of pasta. It is easier when two people are working together. One to guide the pasta in and out of the machine while the other cranks it out. The machine does need some "priming". So the first couple rounds of pasta through each section will stick until you get it primed and then it's a breeze. Flour, flour, flour. Expect to have a floury mess. The clamp didn't fit when we tried to attach it to our kitchen counter so we used our dining table. The handle DOES fall off if you're not paying attention. After a couple of rounds, you get accustomed to the crank handle.I appreciate all the reviews about how to care and clean the machine. Had I not read them, we would've probably put it in water to clean. Thank you!!!Overall, this was a great buy. My son is happy and mom and dad don't have to cook!

Easy use, good construction quality, no assembly
As someone who already made homemade pasta dough at home and cut it by hand, I already had the toughest part of using a machine like this under my belt. If you know how to make homemade dough and to make it to the point that it's not sticky, you'll have a great time with this machine for the occasional rolling and cutting of pasta, noodles, etc. I've used my own recipes, not the ones that came with the machine, with no issues. The construction feels heavy for the size of the device, and there is essentially no assembly other than attaching the handle, which is used in one side for rolling and the other side for cutting.I had no issues with the bracket to attach it to the table, nor any issues with clearance of the handle. If you're accustomed to meat grinders, tomato juicer separators, etc. you'll have a good idea of what you need available to make this clamp to your table successfully. It's not a huge machine. The passes of dough aren't that wide. A normal 3 egg dough will need 3 to 4 passes to get all the dough through for rolling. That being said, including clean up, this device saved me about 2/3 of the time it would normally take to make, roll and cut homemade pasta/noodles. Completely pleased for a first time use of a device like this.
