Hayward SPX1250LA Strainer Cover with Gasket Replacement for Hayward Max-Flo Pump Series

The quality of the lid was great very durable, fit on my pump just as the one that came with the pump. Very clear to see of any debris is in the strainers. Sealed up tighter than a drum. Very simple to install. Plug an play as I like to say. Grat product for the price. Performs just as it should.

It helped fix a problem with air getting into the system. I noticed a lot of air bubbles coming back from the filter, but couldn't tell where it was coming from. I tried replacing the O ring on this cover and still nothing. The cap did look a little warped and faded from sitting in the sun. So I decided to just replace the cap and immediately noticed the difference. I was able to watch the water flow through the strainer and seen a lot of air bubbles. Which meant it was happening prior to getting here. I felt around the lines going into the strainer and there was a small air leak just before the filter. I put my finger over the leak and bubbles immediately went away. Based on this I was able to determine where the leak was. I fixed the pipes and now everything is good. But I wouldn't have been able to see the bubbles with the old cover. If your like me and live in Florida, I would suggest placing a cover over this cap to slow the fading process. I use an old garbage can cover to cover this section. Some day I will come up with something better but for the meantime this will get the job done.

Had a hairline crack right on the edge, saw the bubbles coming out of the pool, but I hardly saw the crack. Go figure. New cap, bubbles gone.

Ok, so I had to buy more than was absolutely necessary, since I the gasket wasn't available separately. At least I couldn't find it. At any rate, I was having a devil of a time keeping the air out of the pool's pumping system. Plus the water wasn't clearing up like it's supposed to ... especially since a new cartridge filter was recently installed.This strainer cover and new gasket did the trick! Once excess air was released via filter valve, powerful flow is happening with NO bubbles. Those bubbles were creating a blanket of foam I couldn't get rid of; but no more. Someone else mentioned this, that the clear top allows sight into the strainer basket so I can now determine if it's time to empty without removing the cover. That should extend the o-ring life, and make "pump priming" less of a necessity. All in all, I am happy with the purchase.
