Complete Table of contents hotlinked to portions of my Kindle Reader making for fast access and more enjoyable reading. Like Storyboarding the Eight Chapters in the book laid out like a storyboard, and also cover what is in the making of a good film which comes in very handy. The last chapter, Chapter eight, ties it all together and will work as quick refresher. The Appendix even has a storyboard checklist, templates, and much more. There is no glossary but I realized the INDEX works as a glossary, and the whole book is like one big cliff notes version of Storyboarding. Words are well defined contextually, they can also be found in the index, and then loop back to where they appear in text via hotlink in Index. Super well laid out book. I love the way the text is backed up by scripts, is then backed up by pictures, time lines, and even web links to seminars and more information. Also information is provided in a bare bones type format, which I prefer, as the authors give you information rapidly and does not embellish with a ton of unneeded information. Great that pictures of Actual script pages with scribbles as to what was desired for Storyboard and then actual pictures of then made storyboards were used for examples. A great book!!! I'd get it again and recommend to friends. Contact either the authors or leave comments down below if you have any other questions not answered here. Review: Got much more than just story boarding essentials out of this book. - This book not only gives you tips on making a storyboard but teaches you the best techniques/methods to telling stories visually. I picked this up just to get familiar with the basics and now find myself learning much more and being a better producer/videographer as a result.

Superb reference on the subject!
2023 promises to be opportunistic if I can do my part, and this book, among a few others, are my foundation for taking on some storyboarding work in the near future. While I have formidable skills with illustration, this is going to be a new world for me. Onward and upward! As for my review of the book in question, I found it very informative, comprehensive, and not at all hard to read and comprehend despite it being largely new territory for me as an artist. I look forward to using it as a constant reference as I move forward.

as the title says. it give you what you need without fluff
I've read a few books on storyboarding, this is by far the most fun, not only cause it's up to date. But its just fresh and fun to read. some books can be very dry and professional. this book was done in a way thats as fun as reading a comic. used the show not tell set of mind. as in instead of going on some long lengthy paragraph it will just plan show you what they mean. lots of pictures and examples in this book. the book done with a younger audience in mind. I mean just look at who did it. I sure they have years of experience to make the material interesting and I got to say this book pulls it off very well. theres also a lot of great interviews to read and you get to learn from different experiences. this book made me with I was able to go to the school. looking forward to other books by them

Good if you wanted to intern on a set (but not for boarding)
I have to admit I was had at the big "SCAD" stamp on this book. I'm an illustrator myself and am interested in learning storyboarding for animation. While the book was insightful on how to read scripts and the expectations of storyboarding for film/tv, I was bummed at how little was mentioned about boarding for animation. But oh well, I was sure I'd at least learn the basics on different kinds of shots, movements, angles, etc. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. While I was glad this book didn't go into the basics of drawing (despite reiterating many times what a thumbnail sketch was), it didn't touch on the basics needed for boarding either. Very little was talked about camera angles, shots, and the likes needed for a good board composition. It did go into detail on how a dolly and crane work, how to number boards (1,2,3,4...), and of course how to read a raw script. The kind of college textbook a professor would ask you to buy for a class but never touch.
