The reviews I read were so "great"/"awful" that felt I completely uninformed... but I liked the look and price... I decided to just go ahead and get this and take enough images and dimensions that maybe my review could give someone a better judgement of what they're getting into. If you don't feel like reading any further, I love these lampshades. They do take assembling. Either people complain about assembling or they complain about shipping costs. If these came pre assembled you'd be paying for that *and* the shipping costs. Unassembled is the most efficient way for them to send and I appreciate it. Follow the instructions, or at least close to it. The side "arms" have little mouths and a tooth that fits in/over and bites onto the inner sections of the gear-like top and bottom rings. The first 2 will be the most awkward. I advise to do these first 2 by having the arms bite the top/small ring, and then the bottom/large ring. Put these first 2 arms on opposite sides from one another. Then follow the instructions by installing a new arm every 4th spot, or like I did: rotating opposites around the circle, dividing gaps between arms in half. (Personally I think the way I did it made it sturdier faster.) Hint, line up your top and bottom arm "mouths" then push into place. You may have to use a little force so the "tooth" will get pushed over and bite on to the inside hole. No glue necessary.... Unless you break one of the tooths. But then each shade comes with 3 extra arms in case of things like that. So figure out why the one broke and don't do it again ;) I saw a note that the wood pieces were super flimsy. I disagree. Again. Nice lightweight structure for shipping and hanging purposes. The first one I put together to figure out what I was doing, the second one I timed. Once I had all the pieces laid out and I was starting the first arm, to finishing the last arm, (aka not the time it took to unbox/unwrap) 14 minutes. Assembled dimensions Total top diameter : 4 inches Total widest diameter : 16.25 inches Total height : 12 inches If you hate diy stuff, don't have 20 minutes to give to it, or have no fine motor skills, don't get this. If you have any level of those and you like the look of these, buy it. Paired with led edison bulbs. Disclaimer, did not use the cords/housing it came with because our fixtures required a retrofit system. I was sad that I was not able to get these without the cord, but I guess I'll just Craig's list them! 4 stars for ease of install and assembly only because I recognize not all people have them same level of dexterity. Thanks for a fun project! Quick gratification and looks great!

After Reading some of the reviews I was honestly nervous to order these. I am 100% thrilled that I did and absolutely love them! Yes it took about 30 minutes to put both together, but it was super easy. I didn’t even use wood glue and I feel like they are pretty sturdy without, it would be an easy fix if one got displaced somehow. I don’t agree with the description of popsicle sticks, I would say they are a little more heavy weight and perfect for a hanging fixture. The trick is sliding them in at the right angle, it starts to go pretty fast once you figure that out. Also following the directions to start with the opposite sides and then every 4 etc. made it foolproof. The end result were some beautiful lights that cast a sweet shadow at night. I ordered some cute vintage bulbs and as you can see they look perfect in my living room! FYI, these do require installation into existing wires, and we did use plates to hide the hole up top. Easy.

This is a cool, mid century style light for a great price - I've seen comparable styles that cost a lot more. I thought it was very easy to assemble. Smaller hoop for top and larger hoop for the bottom then just snap the wood slats into the notches. They give you a few extra just in case you break a slat or 2. It is super lightweight so swagging it will not be a problem with it ripping out of the drywall. I read on other comments that the metal electrical cover that you connect to the ceiling is small and I had the same problem but they sell the larger covers at big box stores for about $5. I think an Edison bulb would look great so I'm going to get that eventually too. Don't be intimidated with having to assemble - you can do it!

I love this light, it is very cool looking and looks like something you might find in a hotel or cool commercial atmosphere. I give it 5 stars for the looks but 4 overall because the plate that goes on the ceiling did not cover my old outlet, so I had to order a different one. Yes, it is made out of thin wood, but just be careful with assembly. Honestly, most light fixtures are fragile anyway. If you use an Edison-type bulb you will have shadows of bars all over your walls, looks neat but doesn't work for my home office. A regular light bulb does not cast shadows.

I’ve had this lamps for over six months in my beach house and they are not made for beach, heat or humid environment. They are very paper like and do not withstand the test of time. I like how they liked when I got them but unfortunately I have to buy new ones and throw this away.

Pretty but very flimsy. One touch and it falls apart. Pieces need to be glued together.

Beautiful, light that makes a statement.the bamboo has a darker stained edge which adds a subtle detail. Easy to put together. Comes with extra pieces in case one of the sections breaks.

I almost didn't purchase this based on the Popsicle stick review- but am so glad that I did. It is lightweight, but I think that makes it more beautiful. It's easy to assemble if you're patient and careful- I didn't need glue. The shape and size are perfect, and the light filtered through the slats makes it look more like an art piece. I changed out the white plastic plug assembly and purchased a plug in hemp cord (on amazon) that looks and functions better for me. Even with the additional cost of the cord, the lamp was far cheaper that you can find on Etsy. I am very happy.
