It was packaged well and brand new, as advertised. I bought the paperback version because I own the first book in the series in paperback as well. I'm a little disappointed that this book is much larger. As a collector of books and authors I enjoy, I prefer to have series the same size and all in either hardcover or paperback. This series is one of the first James Patterson books I have read. When my boyfriend lent me his copy of "Witch & Wizard," I was pretty apprehensive. However, after giving it a chance, I was surprised to find I actually enjoyed it. I have just begun reading the second book, "The Gift," and I'm excited. If the first chapter is a preview of what the entire book will be look, then I'm quite happy. Both my boyfriend and I are new Patterson fans. Review: Masterful - A fitting sequel to the first book as the witch and wizard continue to learn their place in this adventure and their powers continue to grow with every battle.

Cliff hanger
I have personally read the books at least four times now never gets old. I was rereading the books again because the kiss is coming out next month. The book is exciting and when it ends just makes you want to read more. The reason I didn't give it five stars is because I don't like the layout of the book. Why so many chapters and what not. I understand that he is showing the different perspectives of wisty and wit but dang I like chapters with titles so I can guess what and why he named that chapter such and such. Still a good book and series. Can't wait for the kiss to come out!

This book was good
I finished reading this book and liked it. You can get confused a little trying to remember who you are reading about because the chapters jump form Whit and Whisty through out the book. Then there is Bryon and the mutant children. I am glad I purchase the series that is out so far. The 4th book comes out in Feb 2013. Some people say this could not possible happen this way. Guess what this is fiction. I am not sure that any book I have ever read could happen in real life. The story is consistent. I have started the 3rd book Fire--so I guess I will have to wait to see what that is about.

Very good again...
I enjoyed this second book just as much as the first and I really don't understand why people didn't in their reviews, personally. I know this book is short, novella length practically, but it bordered on the need for chapter demarcations even though Patterson's chapter lengths are notoriously short. I won't bore you with a plot summary as I know other reviewers are fond of doing that. I am really liking the characters in this series so far. If you liked the first book, I say that you should give this one a shot. Have at it because I don't think you'll be disappointed. I can't wait to read the next one.

Only 21?? Im buying the whole thing.....
***WARNING*** After reading these twenty one chapters you will be forced to buy the whole book! James Patterson is fantastic at writing YA novels, and this is a great example. The book continues were the last book left off, and pulls you deeper into the suspenseful life of Whit and Wisty. You begin to learn more about their parent's abduction, and are thrown through a few thousand loopholes as well. If you are a fan of this series, this addition will not disappoint and will leave you with no choice but to buy the whole book! Prepare to be mystified, shocked, and maybe a little nervous as you read these sampling chapters!

Quick glimpse
I enjoyed being able to read the first chapters of the second story in this series free of charge. Had I had to pay for this, I would be disappointed by its abrupt stop. This Witch & Wizard series is enjoyable and an interesting mix of popular YA fiction plots that are best sellers these days. If you enjoyed Harry Potter, the Hunger Games, and The Mortal Instruments... you will most likely enjoy this series too.

This is a really thrilling sequel to the gift, and the series so far is worth the read.
It's a simple book, easy to read, and very engaging. I love all the characters and their development from adolescent teens to leaders of the free world. Some plot twists were expected while others caught me off guard. And then their were times where I found myself yelling at the book because the answer is right in front of them and somehow they can't seem to find it. Overall, I can't wait to see where The Fire leads us!

As this was a present I did not read it myself, but I understand from the recipient that it was very good.

I enjoyed the story but I do not want to give the ending ,but one of the siblings has a gift. You have to read about their adventures to find out. It is a book you cannot put down no matter your age. It is a good escape story especially with what the world is facing nowadays.

I read this book when it first came out in hard back, and enjoyed it very much, in fact had the full series in hardback, and when I had read them, gave them to one of my Grandsons, to read and enjoy as I did. Also in a small way, by giving the hardback copies away has saved a bit of space on my bookshelves, which I have now filled with further novels from JP. This is a real terrific little series, quite comparable to his Daniel X Series. I am sure if you like this kind of fantasy, you will enjoy this.
