Montessori: The Science Behind the Genius 3rd Edition, Kindle Edition

As a professional educator, I found this book, refreshing and packed with research that clearly justifies a different model of education if we want to educate our youth in a manner that is in their best interest. This book also reinforced what I have observed of students. The research based changes that our current model needs to improve education are clearly outlined in this book.

Excellent review of the psychological literature surrounding principles of the Montessori Method. The author provides a balanced review, also noting where research doesn't support Montessori (however, for the most part it does) in an objective fashion. It's also extremely informative about authentic Montessori practices. Highly recommend.

Lillard explains Montessori in clear language that anyone can understand and makes a compelling case for Montessori as an approach. The high fidelity research demonstrates why Montessori works better than any other educational approach to date. The author does what few have done: with an accurate understanding of authentic Montessori, she gives the straight story.

As a new Montessori homeschool mom, this book has been extremely informative as I research and learn about the Montessori method. It is full of discussion of various scientific studies relating to education, which are helping me as I form my own philosophy of education and make choices regarding the education of my children.
