Sturdy and reliable bags, dislike the way they close
There seem to be many negative reviews for these bags, but I have no serious complaints about them. I have stored milk nearly 50 times using the Medela bags and have been completely satisfied. They are sturdy and hold up well when being reheated. However, I do dislike the fact that the way they are closed is to insert a little trash bag tie into the two pre-cut holes and then fold over and over and twist together until tight. I store my milk in tupperware and then enclose in large freezer ziplocks and have not had any problem with the milk being corrupted. The way they close is annoying because it doesn't freeze flat at all and I can only store 3 bags of milk per container- thus taking up tons of space in the freezer. When I heat these up in a pot or under hot water I never have to double bag or worry about leaks and that is what matters most to me. I recommend these bags and will continue to use for the remainder of my time breast feeding.

Was disappointed with Medela - try Lansinoh
As a happy owner of the Medela Pump In Style Advanced, naturally I automatically thought to buy the Medela breast milk bags as you would assume they would be the best available. After using these bags for the last three months, I am not so sure. Now, while the twist ties can be a bit cumbersome, it really doesn't take any more time than attaching bottles and then pouring your milk into another bag. However, my concern arises in the sterility of the milk and leakage issues. Somehow, simply using a twist tie does not seem to be the most sterile way to secure our "liquid gold"; furthermore, it is VERY important to be sure the bag is always standing straight up lest the milk begin pouring out - not always the easiest task. Also, when defrosting, I would rather have a bag that was fully sealed to prevent even the possibility of water entering the milk. Regarding the tear off space at the bottom; never once has my husband been able to accomplish this without using scissors or ultimately giving up and opening the twist tie. I love the idea, however the reality for us has not been practical or efficient. Certainly after 3 months we developed a working system with these bags but I was never fully convinced of the safety of this milk. I recently tried the Lansinoh bags and find them to be much more convenient. With a double zip closure, fully sterilized heavy duty plastic, the ability to stand unsupported or to lie flat, and finding it extraordinarily easy to be sure all the air is extracted, Lansinoh has won me over. Plus, they're a little cuter and say "My Mommy's Milk" in big letters. And they're cheaper than Medela! What more could you ask? I've had friends who have tried Gerber, and strangely they all said those bags made their milk smell soapy (possible with any plastic bag but for 7 of them Gerber was the culprit). Hope this helps and good luck!

Compact and Convenient for use with Medela Pump in Style
I use a Medela Pump in Style and use these bags when I am low on bottles. I much prefer to pump into bottles and use the bags for storage in the freezer/refrigerator. This is especially useful when I'm traveling and don't want to lug too many bottles with me. I always keep a stack of them along with the Medela sterilizer bags with my pump (along with the spare battery case, A/C adapter, and Car charger). Everything fits great. The twist tie seal isn't the easiest thing in the world but it definitely keeps the bags compact and is pretty good and easy to use. The only spill/leak I ever had was my own error. If you're worried about it spilling in the fridge, I suggest keeping the bags upright in a clean bowl so that they are not laying on their sides and having more pressure on the seal - it keeps the bags from getting smushed by other items and also ensures that the bags are kept in a safe, clean space in the fridge.

Not the best.....
When you buy the Pump In Style Advanced, they send you a few of these bags. I had tried the Gerber Seal'n go bags, and they suck! I prefer the Lansinoh bags (only had one faulty pack). The Medela CSF bags had this pain in the rear twist tie junk, and I've had them leak (I have two in the freezer that were sucessful). I've never used that little tear or cut thing....just take off the twist tie! I had a couple of incdents that I go to thaw them, and during their stay in the freezer, something bumped them, and then poked a hole in the plastic, and during thawing got contaminated (this was my problem with all the Gerbers!). They're okay in a pinch though.

Durable, easy to use milk storage
I used these bags with my Medela Little Hearts pump and they worked very well. The instructions are very clear and accurate. The bags attach easily with a twist tie to the coupler that normally holds the bottle. Removal from the pump is easy, as is securing them for storage with the twist tie. The bags held up nicely in the freezer and thawed well, too.The method for transferring the milk to a bottle, by tearing a corner of the bag is a bit tricky. Although the instructions didn't say so, I suspect the reason is to keep any contaminates on scissors/knives from transferring to the milk. The first few tries we spilt a bit of the milk, but after a bit of practice it wasn't a problem.

Okay, but not worth it for the price.
I actually did not even buy this bags, I only used the ones that came with my Pump in Style. From the beginning I did not like their closing system - with a tie! I had no problems attatching the bags to the shield, but I hated the way you are suppose to close the bags. I haven't had any problems with leaks(on storage) so far, but it just does not seem right! You basically roll the tie down and twist it up - I like the Gerber seal and the Avent clips much more. I had problems pouring out the milk though, it leaked everywhere! The good thing is that you do not have to double bag to freeze, like I have to with the Avent ones.Overall I won't buy the Medela ones because I think they are too expensive for what they stand for. I use either Gerber - very good but also a little more expensive, or the Avent ones(that I have to double bag to freeze!!!) but cost less money - and even with double bagging are worth it(it comes with 100 per package and cost less than 5 dollars).
