Surprisingly good
Purchased this to facilitate Time Machine backups of my Apple computers. Turns out to be a reasonably powerful server. I previously useD MacOS Server app to handle mail and VPN server functions, but these are no longer supported by Apple. Asustor provides a bunch of free apps that handle mail, vpn, ftp, and other network server functions. I would have given 5 stars, but the technical documentation, while voluminous, was not obvious to someone like me who isnāt a full blown network administrator. The Asustor operating system (ADM), appears to be built on a Linux kernel. Documentation is based upon an earlier implementation of ADM, so wasnāt directly applicable to the current ADM version that shipped with the system I purchased. Using the Asustor forum and some trial and error got me where I needed to be. I populated it with a pair of Seagate Iron Wolf 4 TB drives, and thereās even an ADM app that monitors drive temp, vibration and function. Overall, a lot of capability for the money. If one plans to host mail, the 2GB memory of this system is the minimum that allows mail antivirus (ClamAV, free app). Finally, make sure you enable ADM Defender and check system logs regularly. There are a lot of bad folks out there trying brute force attacks on anything you allow to access the internet, so make sure you use non standard user names and complex passwords

Excellent Starter NAS for Redundant Storage
I'm starting to get serious with Plex and I was running out of storage space on the plug-and-play device attached to my router and USB attached external storage. I have been looking at that well-known and -reviewed device with five drive bays from another vendor, but decided that I didn't want to invest that much when I probably wouldn't be using all the extra features. So I ordered the Asustor AS3102T v2 based on the the specs and reviews I saw here. It did not disappoint! The set-up instructions are picture-based. You find the device that looks like yours in the instruction sheet and proceed to remove the two thumb screw securing the case cover onto the chassis, then slide the cover off. The NAS device will then be lying flat on its left side. Slide one or two 3.5-inch hard drives into the bays where they will plug into the power and data connectors in the back of the slots. NOTE: You cannot use 2.5 inch drives in this device. Use four included thumb screws to secure each drive and replace the cover. Use one of the included network patch cables to plug the NAS into your network router. Attach the power supply and turn the device on. Then, using a computer attached to the same network (or the mobile app) go to the URL shown in the documentation.I was prompted to download and run the Asustor Control Center app which located the Asustor NAS on my network and pointed my web browser to the device's administration page. Following the instructions on the screen I created an Asustor account for registration and was prompted to download and install the latest version of the operating system onto the NAS. From there I set up a device administration account and password, then I set up the drive volume. I put two drives into the system and chose to create a RAID level 1 volume. RAID 1 is a mirror configuration - everything on one drive is an exact mirror of the other drive, so if one drive fails you still have another copy of your data on the other. Then I clicked on Services on the NAS administration web page and turned on the Windows networking service. If you know how to map a network drive in Windows you can do that using the IP address, or you can go back to the Asustor Control Center app and select Connect, then Map Network Drive. After that I was then ready to start copying my media files onto the NAS for use with my Plex server. One convenient feature I used was the ability to plug an external USB 3.0 drive into the NAS and copy files from it directly onto the NAS. This can be much faster than copying lots of large files over the network. This Asustor AS3102T v2 NAS device has worked like a dream since I set it up. It has many more features than I need and it's a great value. I have not yet started to use any of the included backup software or other features yet, nor have I set it up to be accessible from the Internet. One piece of advice I have is to take time to estimate how much storage you will need, and then double it. This device will support drives up to 16 terabytes in size, so don't underestimate future growth.

Easy to Setup and Use
I finally have what I've always wanted... one place to store my files, with RAID. Have some peace of mind knowing I have a backup in case of disaster.

Great beginner NAS
This was the first time I have setup a NAS. I wanted to use a reliable RAID 1 storage that was beginner friendly and affordable. This drive was relatively easy to setup (with some blog consultation) and so far works great for my purposes. I am using it to store photos with easy access for editing. Accessing it using the apps was a bit convoluted at first but I figured it out after a few minutes and now find it pretty straightforward. I am pretty tech savvy overall but, again, had never set anything like this up. It is not a fast system, but that was really not very important to me. I cannot speak to its long term performance yet as it is less than a week old but will update later with my impressions.

Impressive Small Network NAS
I compared NAS's at the same price point and none of them could match I have in the Nakivo. Memory and Link Aggregation were at the top of my list, this NAS has both.I also bought it for the Nakivo backup software available that I use to back up vm's across (2) VMware servers. The nightly backups run smooth and fast w/ the 2gb's of memory and link aggregation. I would recommend this NAS for home use and/or backing up Hyper-visors.

By this NAS with confidence!!!
I have been using this NAS for sometime now and what I can tell are only goods.šAsus is known for its great motherboards in laptops and PC's. Asustor NAS, in particular this NAS AS3102T V2, is the greatest NAS I have tested and comapred in this price range! The NAS, is very silent, reliable, and equipped with many apps and features. Technical support is also very responsive for any issue or question that I've had.In my belief Asustor NAS are a very good choice for many SOHO as they offer a great hardware comapare with other nas in the market.
