Product Description Determined to have sex before leaving for college, two teenagers agree to buy the booze for the coolest party in town, leading to a night they'll never forget. .com Striking a balance between raunch and sweetness is a tall order for any film, but the Judd Apatow-produced Superbad manages to serve up both in equal and satisfying portions without undercutting a consistent stream of laugh-out-loud performances and gags. Michael Cera (the sublime George Michael Bluth from Arrested Development) and unstoppable scene-stealer Jonah Hill (Apatow's Knocked Up) are lifelong pals who attempt to make up for years of obscurity by getting into one blowout party before parting ways for college; an opportunity presents itself in the form of Hill's crush, the lovely Jules (Emma Stone), who wants the boys to bring liquor to her shindig. What follows is a combination road adventure and coming of age story as Cera and Hill tackle crazed partygoers, a pair of overeager cops (played by co-scripter and producer Seth Rogen and Saturday Night Live 's Bill Hader), and the hard truth about girls and their own emotional bond. The humor is crass and occasionally gross but never mean-spirited, and Cera and Hill offer believable performances as guys wholly unaware of their own potential, yet ready to risk humiliation in order to find out. They're well supported by a cast of Apatow regulars, including Kevin Corrigan, Martin Starr, David Krumholtz, and Carla Gallo (and Stone and Martha MacIsaac are terrific as their love interests), but the film is completely shoplifted by newcomer Christopher Mintz-Plasse as their uber-nerdy pal Fogell, whose fake ID handle is among the movie's funniest gags. Classic funk fans should also keep an ear out for the score by Lyle Workman, which features such James Brown and P-Funk veterans as Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell, and Clyde Stubblefield. --Paul Gaita Stills from Superbad (click for larger image) -- end6pak -->

Awesome on blu ray
It is amazing how much a quality blu ray transfer can enhance a film and it is even rarer for blu ray to greatly enhance a comedy film. But SUPERBAD becomes an even more exhilirating expreience due to blu ray. If you love the movie then you know all the great aspects of it from Judd Apatow's production and Greg Mottola's directing to the career making performances from Jonah Hill and Michael Cera. What could have just been an over the top teen comedy with crude and rude sex and jokes becomes instead a bawdy over the top teen comedy that is realistic, true to life and irresistible. It is hilarious and yes, there is sex and crude humor but it all has a purpose and this film is comedy at its best. Seth Rogen wrote the script and his brand of humor along with the gifts of Judd Apatow is starting a whole line of new, inventive comedies. This film also manages to be very endearing and show the realities of teen hardships, friendship and love and what pubescent years are really like.I was amazed when I popped in the blu ray disc. It was my 5th time viewing this film and in the opening shot Jonah Hill is cruising forward in a red car and the color was so crisp, the video so enhanced and clear that I was stunned. Throughout the film, be it day or night, inside or out, the film shines and never loses its intense detail. The video is in 1080p high definition and delivers throughout. I never realized how awesome the soundtrack to this film was. Songs are used to great effect and they will soar out of all surround speakers and set a scene that is amazing. The Dolby TrueHD 5.1 delivers. I found watching this film on blu ray with my home theater system to be so much better than seeing it at the movies. Dialogue is strong and vibrant and combined with the music you can't help but feel joyous. There is a second disc with over 2 hours of hilarious extras and I watched it all. I am so pleased with this purchase and found this blu ray transfer to be one of the best I've ever seen and definitely the very best of a comedy. I am a huge fan of SUPERBAD and all involved and am thrilled that blu ray made the viewing experience even more memorable. Rude, crude, heartwarming and hilarious this film is the best. Do yourself a favor and experience it on blu ray.
