A Rifle Anyone Can Build
T**M
A Fun Project
I saw this book advertised and just had to get one to look at. Well I couldn't resist, since I already had some 3/8 aluminum plate It was going to be a back burner project, might take all winter. Now I find that I am planning everything else around it. Yes the plans are a bit vague in places and not written by a literary genius but by a guy who likes guns. I consider the loosness a bit of rustic charm. Since I had an old Mosin barrel I aim to drill it out for the liner. I have another old old octagon barrel ( maybe Hawken ? ) that I might resurect for another, maybe a 45 long colt? Anyhow this is a very interesting project and I plan to do a lot of plinking with it. Thanks Jerry, do you have any more in the works?Tom

Nice info
I like this book. It has received a lot of negative reviews but understand this is one mans way of building a rifle, kind of a cheap way but learn from it what you can. If you want a more detailed book spend more and look elsewhere. This book is more for ideas.

Good for first time gunbuilders.
This would be the perfect first project to try. Not too technical, the drawings do have thick lines allowing a fair margin of error.

DON"T buy this
This book should not be sold nor should this rifle be constructed in the manner which is presented in the book. The author admits that he is not a machinist or a gunsmith-and he is not! His variation of the original design (aluminum sidewallls) and lack of a rebounding firing pin make this gun unsafe. The book lacks several features, parts list, exact dimension, detailed drawings, working description, to name a few, that would make it a poor book even if the design was sound. The chambering instructions for those who choose not to use a reamer are incomplete and,as a .22 heasdspaces on the rim will lead to large problems, so will his elimination of the extractor. The 24,000 lbs of chamber pressure will eventually cause the the breech block pin the enlarge the hole inthe aluminum plate, increasing the headspace, causing the shell case to rupture and sending hot gasses andbrass into the face and eyes of the shooter. If you want to build a single shot rifle please purchase " Mister Single Shots Book of Rifle Plans by Frank DeHass" His design is safe.

A very Disapointing Book.
The title of this book is realy misleading and I feel like I've been Cheated out of my Money. The descriptions and few Drawings are of a very bad quality, I concider myself to be a good Craftsman and can build anything if I've got a good Drawing - this very thin book is absolutely useless. I found a better description and Drawings on Wikipedia - absolutely Free.
