I love this product
I just purchased IRobot 790. This is the coolest thing ever. I have a large home and it just goes around and sweeps. I have alot of tile flooring so it really is nice to have 'Rosie' vacuum up the dust and cat hair. I am so impressed with this machine. I love that it will vacuum under my couch & chairs. You have to watch it a few times so you may identify any problem areas for iRobot such has loose wires, etc. I will move things around a little so Rosie can clean. Set her up for success. She fluffs my carpet and it looks like I have vacuumed each day, but Rosie did it. iRobot maintains the cleaning for you so you don't have to vacuum as often. I use Rosie daily. Heck, I paid for it and I am going to use it! It is a wonderful product. It is easy to operate and empty out the debris. I find that it does hold plenty of debris. Rosie has no problem going from shag carpet to tile and vice versa. And she is smart where she can back out of areas.Update: 12/13/13. I am still happy with this vacuum. It is easy to set up and schedule. Rosie vacuums daily. I empty the debris bin every few days. I find it amazing all the debris that gets picked up. And iRobot vacuums under the beds! Yeah! Still loving it.

It's good.
It is amazing how much dust and tiny debris that collects on the floor in just a day. This little device works great at picking most of it up. I haven't noticed it get stuck anywhere at all even with a dining room table and 6 chairs. It navigates it's way in and then eventually makes it out. It's a little annoying for me to watch it go in completely random paths and sometimes over the same areas repeatedly. But that's something easily fixed by not watching it.The virtual walls don't always work and I've had it jump past where it was supposed to go and get some sort of long ribbon/string type thing wrapped around it's wheels which immobilized it. Also, you will need to sort of "pre-clean" before it's scheduled runs. Basically pick up anything that can get wrapped up in it's wheels and make sure it has a somewhat decent path to pick up the dirt and dust. These things are pretty expensive and the software driving it could be a ton better. But it does a pretty decent job and keeping the floor clean and actually helping air quality by removing dust daily that might get tossed back up into the air. I bought this on a Gold Box Deal. So it was slightly less expensive. But I am happy with the purchase after using it for a month or so.

WARRANTY of no value
Broke after 3 months of use@ 3 daily cleanings per week. So the only thing I can conclude is these are cheaply built, but not cheaply priced Chinese ripoffs (e.g. made in China). I had attempted to diagnose as per website, all tests indicated to return for warranty repair. So call for warranty repair, but want you to do the same as you had done with them on phone; impossible only time they are open is when at work. Explained situation and still same robot replies, even managers have canned speeches. So I guess it the garbage can for this piece of JUNK, since their warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

Cleans well but disappointing
The 790 is our first robotic vacuum. It does a great job of cleaning our carpet and hardwood floors. However, there are multiple issues with this latest top-of-the-line $700 vacuum.1. The way the vacuum navigates appears random and is clearly inefficient. I expected better than this. If you are present when it is cleaning, this will annoy you. I could design a better algorithm. This is a huge design failure.2. The robot has much trouble finding the dock even if it is right near it. This is another huge design failure.3. The dust bin holds a cup. This makes the vacuum useless for big jobs. It works if you put it on a schedule so that it can do incremental cleaning. iRobot should make a docking bin to solve this problem. I'd pay $200 for a dock that automatically emptied the vaccum and charged the robot.4. The remote is a joke in 2013. iRobot should add WiFi to the vacuum and allow you to control it from iOS/Android/web.5. The lighthouses are big and bulky. They require C batteries which are not included.6. When there is an error, the unit talks but it is difficult to hear and if you miss it, you don't know what happened.I strongly recommend the Neato Signature Pro over this robotic vacuum. It is much more efficient.

Motor on side brush broke after 6 weeks.
The side spinner brush stopped working after 6 weeks of use (running Roomba 2X a week only). iRobot is shipping us a new motor; however, I'm disappointed to already have a problem with a $600+ item. Overall, the robot does a good job. I would never rely on it for end-to-end vacuuming, though. I think this is a tool to help keep your floors tidy in between cleanings with a big vacuum. Also, the Roomba gets stuck on my super plush frieze rug, which is annoying. It errors out, so I have to move Roomba every time it vacuums my living room. This means I can never let Roomba run on its own and trust that it will make its way back to the docking station because I'm always having to move it. I will say though, the lighthouses and virtual walls that come with this Roomba are pretty awesome. Haven't used the remote yet...seems unnecessary.

Modern Marvel - The Roomba
Who would have thought that modern technology would produce a new vacuum cleaner. From the moment you take it out of the box, press CLEAN, on the remote control, your are amazed at what this innovative piece of engineering can do. It is smart and very effective at its job. Downsides are the price and keeping the device itself clean and running. I have been using mine for several months and it works as good as when I bought it. You will still need a more traditional vacuum for some jobs. If you admire fine engineering and wonderful technology, and can afford the price, don't miss out.
