Perry Gets the Parrot
When a wealthy man is found dead in his cabin, his parrot implicates a woman named "Helen". Both of the man's wives are named "Helen".Except the parrot that does this isn't the one in the cabin. And while one wife appears clearly not legally such, the other may have been married to someone else herself.Things just get twistier and twistier, but Perry figures it out!

Great story
I have yet to find a Perry Mason mystery that I didn't like. The stories are so much better than the tv adaptations.

Best Perry Mason story
I've seen all of the TV shows, the TV movies and now have read more than a dozen of the novels. This one is the most satisfying. I can't say more without spoilers.

More Perry
Being a fan of the Perry Mason tv series again itโs so great to look at the story development of the author and how it compares to the tv series.

Entertaining, but not the best Perry Mason and somewhat contrived
The reader realizes pretty quickly into this one that the chicanery in this case is forced. A parrot that is a witness to the crime screams a name shared by two of the suspects. Alibis are established by transcontinental and trans-Pacific plane schedules. Drake sends dozens of operatives all over the country to get information that a local sheriff has and later reveals to Perry when asked. Perry takes chances to hide a witness and is then unconcerned when the witness runs away from hiding and is immediately captured. And the local DA and the visiting detective are even more obtuse and smug that Hamilton Berger. The final twist at the end was absurd and utterly unnecessary but did tie up a loose end that could have gone untied. This book reads mostly like a Gardner essay on greed and circumstantial evidence that is camouflaged inside a contrived story with a catchy title. Fun, but not one of Gardner's better efforts.

favorite of the series so far
many twists and turns lead to a very satisfying conclusion. even though you're given the facts of the case up front, the why of it is still surprising when its revealed.

Great Twist
As with all of the other Erle Stanley Gardner books, I found this one to be an enjoyable read. Great twists and turns with the bird. As always I have to think of Aaron Burr as Perry Mason. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a mystery that holds the ending until the end. I would venture to sway that you can't guess the ending.

Another excellent read!
This was amongst a selection of Perry Mason books bought as a gift for my Mum. Very good story. Thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish.

Interesting case
A very interesting case! This is one case where it is not exactly a jury or court hearing, but one with minimum technicalities. This is where Mason clears the case at the coroner's inquest itself.A very interesting thing is, that it has most things in double! I guess Gardner wanted to confuse the case as much as possible. All in all, interesting read.
