Works Great. Shop around for programming and key cut.
Bought this for a 2013 kia soul. I brought it to the dealership. They charged 97 dollars to program. However they wouldn't cut the key because I didn't purchase it from them. I brought it to a local locksmith they charged me 5 dollars to cut the key. Shop around for prices. One locksmith wanted to charge me 165 for program and 35 for cutting the key. The key and the fob work great and I saved myself 300 dollars. The dealership wanted 400 to purchase it from them.

Saved the day and the days to come
I was down to one key fob. When the original key broke off In the ignition, I thought I could manage. Well, not if you lose it or misplace it. I went thru the house last minute panicked because I could not find my one usable key, which usually was hidden in plain site. I decided I needed at least one back up. Ace Hardware wanted $225 for one. I thought there has to be a better way. I came her on Amazon and I found these for $25 each one. I decided to buy 2! The next feat was to find someone that could actually cut the key and program it. I consulted a few places like Autozone. They could not. I called a local locksmith. They gave me a quote and I contacted another who also gave me a quote. The 3rd one said they have to come to my house to give me a quote. The 3rd said a ridicules price. I laughed and I told them the quote from the other locksmith and they matched it. 20 minutes later I have 2 new key fobs. It was great and I would buy from here again. I know some other people did not have my experience but if you find the right locksmith, then it will be awesome for you too.

It Actually Works
After buying a used Soul with a bashed key fob, I called several local dealers trying to buy a replacement for it. NONE of them had a blank in stock that would work for the model we bought. They wanted at least 2 weeks and several hundred dollars to get one. Since the car was going to be a birthday gift, that was going to take longer than I wanted. I thought if I found a blank here on Amazon I could save some time. The blank did arrive just a day later, but no dealer would touch it. Same for some of the places that advertise they cut keys for cars like these. Who knew Kia was so special? So, my husband took the "guts" from the bashed fob and made a working remote out of this. The old key is still needed to actually start the car, but at least there is no need for the kid to fumble in the dark trying to find the keyhole in order to unlock the car.

Key fob not the problem -- it is Kia itself
Unsure of fob's effectiveness -- Kia can't program it.So now I have to open door with the key itself in the lock (wintertime is fun with frozen locks).I can't open the back trunk door without opening the driver's side door, putting key into the ignition and pushing forward like I am going to start the engine to release the door locks to open! Very time-consuming and very awkward. I can't help that my vehicle is 14 years old and Kia only makes enough for demand. This is the last Kia (even used) that I will purchase.

Key worked perfectly 2013 Kia Soul +
Buttons on my old key fob had fallen out over the years. I just wanted to replace the fob and swap out the key. (I didn’t want an additional key, I wanted to use the old key in the new fab). Took it to three locksmiths to see if they would do ir and they all said no. They would have to reprogram the new fab and cut a new key. I passed. Finally found another locksmith that was able to change out the shell using my old hardware and key. No cutting or reprogramming necessary. Just a simple swap. So now I am using the new fab with the old hardware in it. Whole process took 15 minutes and he charged me $20 to do it. Definitely saved me over $200.Also, my new fab came with an uncut key, and the electronics in it. I just opted out of using them.
