These work great! Even thru thick walls
Impressive engineering! I had marble tile over a 1" float so the overall depth was 1.25" deep. These anchors had no problem with that thickness. Once my hole was drilled, they were easy to install and feel rock solid for the hand rail. They work perfectly with the Moen rail and were easy to adjust to get the correct alignment. Highly recommend.

Excellent Positive Anchors for Grab Bars on Hollow Walls
Anyone who appreciates mechanical design will find these anchors very interesting. However, the important thing to know is that they are very easy to install, with excellent instructions, and they provide very robust anchors for grab bars on hollow walls. In addition, the anchors have seals to ensure that there will be no leakage into the wall for shower installations.

SMA1000CH 2-pack mislabeled as SMA1001CH 10-pack
According to Moen.com part number SMA1001CH is a 10 pack of SecureMount anchors. What I received is an SMA1000CH, a 2 pack, with an adhesive label stuck on the box with the other part number (see photo). Amazon’s description for this item includes both “2-pack” and “Set of 10 anchors”, so I knew I was taking a chance that I would not get the 10 pack I hoped for. Amazon sells the correctly identified SMA1000CH for about $7 less. Minus one star for the incorrect description. If not for Amazon’s mistake in the description I would have given this product a 5 star rating. They are easy to install and sturdy. I have no doubt they will hold the grab bar securely to the wall without a stud behind them. The quality of these anchors convinced me to choose Moen brand grab bars for all future applications. One thing to consider if you are installing a bar with one end on a stud: while you only need a SecureMount on the end where their is no stub, the SecureMount raises the bar 1/8” off the wall surface. (Don’t worry, the escutcheon covers the mounting plate completely.) I found a 24” bar flexes enough that both ends could be screwed down flat, but I don’t know if that would be true for a shorter bar. You may want to use a SecureMount on both ends so there is no difference in height. The SecureMount mounting plate can be attached to a stud with the screws that come with the grab bar. Another advantage of using SecureMount on each end is that it would be easier to remove the bar from the wall if you needed to paint the wall or if you decide to replace the bar with one in a different color or style. When securing the plate or bar end to a stub with wood screws, I recommend running the screws in by hand for the last inch. If you use the recommended 1/8” pilot hole the screw will be quite tight, and it is difficult to keep a driver bit in the screw head for that last inch. You can also go up to a 9/64” pilot hole and/or put some bar soap on the screw threads before running them in. If you ever have to remove the grab bar you will thank your former self for having the patience to avoid damaging the heads by using a power tool.

Awesome product -thoroughly satisfied
Had purchased a Moen grab bar, and was looking for the best way to install in a tiled shower, with a minimum number of holes,Decided on the Moen SecureMount system. This required a single hole of 1-1/4" per side, rather than 3 smaller holes per side. If there was an issue, the single hole would be easier to cover.Marking the locations after checking for studs above the tile, I used a diamond hole saw - cleanly cut the tile, but was surprise to find 1" of reinforced cement behind the tile (which I continued to drill through with the tile saw)The SecureMounts worked perfectly and securely even with a hole depth of slightly longer than 1-1/4".I have no idea what I would have done if I had drilled that 3 holes per side and found the cement.Would definitely recommend this.

Solid Mount for Shower Grab Bars
I need grab bars in my two showers. Experts recommend drilling into studs so that the grab bar will support adult weight, but of course studs are never in the right place and being only 1.5" wide, they make it hard to get three screws installed even if the grab bar manages to hit one. Moen's Securemount does exactly what I want. Finding voids in the wall is pretty easy compared to finding studs. Drilling the 1.25" hole through the shower wall is the only tricky part. My old showers are lined with ceramic tile (i.e. "soft" tile). A $10 carbide grit hole saw goes through the tile cleanly. If the shower was made of porcelain tile or granite, cutting the hole would be significantly more difficult. Instructional videos on the Moen web site and YouTube explain how the mount works, and the package contains detailed instructions.I particularly like the rubber gaskets and seals which ensure that water will not get through the mount into the wall cavity. These mounts are designed for Moen grab bars that are labelled "Securemount" (a LOT of their bars are). I have no idea if they would be compatible with grab bars from other companies.
