BLACK+DECKER dustbuster 12V DC Car Handheld Vacuum, Red (BDH1220AV)

I just received it today. First, I noticed how lightweight it felt - which was great! Then all the pieced fit nicely in the included bag - which was great! Lastly, I tried it out in the the car. (I have a small SUV). The cord length is great, even when I plugged it into the extra socket in the cargo area! The hose and attachments are super easy to put on and switch instantly. It definitely picks up crumbs and dust. I love how it can stand on its end if you need to rest it, and the cord can wrap around there as well. However, I did not have a very messy vehicle to begin with so I cannot rate how well it would pick up larger pieces. Afterall, it is a car vac and I wouldn't expect any car vac to do a job like a regular house vac. If there were big pieces, I think I would just hand pick them quickly and put them in a garbage bag and use the vac to do detail work on the remaining hard-to-reach crumbs. My only concern, which I would not know until some time passes, is how well this entire unit will last as it will be stored in the car in regards to heat and humidity. I read the manual carefully and there was no precautions about that so I am sure it is designed to withstand the excessive heat of a car - afterall, it IS a car vac and should be engineered for that environment. I am glad I decided to take a risk and buy this because I could not find not even one review anywhere in my online search for this specific car vac. I think it is very new. So far, I love it.

Got it used from Amazon Warehouse as "Very Good", but far as I could tell it came brand new with just a damaged box.I was able to clean up an SUV which only needed mild work and a sedan which needed moderate work with this vacuum in one session. Turn your car on if you want maximum suction, as the 12v port will be able to output around 10% more voltage. No, it is not gonna be as strong as your $300 home vacuum. It's not strong by any means, but it's not that weak either. I was surprised by how much suction there was after reading all of the negative reviews. It has enough power to clean up loose dirt and debris. It doesn't have a powered beater brush either, so don't expect it to clean deeply embedded dirt off of your carpet unless you are scrubbing at it with the nozzle to break it loose first. It has enough suction to pick up small rocks, a penny, a dime, etc if it is within direct reach of the nozzle. The attachments will cause you to lose suction, but even with the crevice tool or brush attached there is still just barely enough power to pick up loose debris and get the job done.For $17 used, it came brand new and was worth it for me to not have to rely on finding a working vacuum or hauling the big home vacuum down the stairs and hooking up an extension cord. Cordless vacuums still don't have the battery I need. This thing will run so long as my car is running. I will use this for light to moderate cleaning sessions in between my annual deep cleaning where I break out the home vacuum with the beater brush and for that, it does the job just fine.

Before buying I asked the CSR if this came with a wall adapter and was told yes. I wasn't surprised when it turned up without one. I'm still trying to find one that works but it does work in the vehicle as intended

I agree w/ other reviews: not strong suction. That's expected for running off a 12 volt battery. It's not a shop vac! Previously, I cleaned the sailboat interior with a broom and dustpan. This vacuum makes it much easier and quicker. It picks up loose dog hair and sand adequately. Running the brush nozzle over the mats or settees (sofas) picks up the dog hair. I'm happy w/ purchase - good value for the price.

I bought this to keep in my SUV so I wouldn't have to drag my heavy vacuum around to clean this vehicle. This barely picks up dust and light pet fur. Forget anything heavier, like light particles, sand, etc. Considering this product is 12-volt, my expectations were that it pick up dust and light debris. I don't think I was asking for too much and wonder why this product has positive reviews...? It now sits in the back of my SUV unused, pondering getting a refund but too irritated with the return process, and lugging my heavy machine around to clean my vehicle.

You'd think a car vacuum from a name brand such as Black & Decker would be really good. Well, it was not. The cord length is about the only good thing on this automotive vacuum. Suction is not sufficient. I sent mine back for a refund.
