So very, very good. Surprisingly strong
My gosh. Very surprised at how much stuff came out of our living room carpet just now with this vacuum. We replaced a Kenmore canister with a Kenmore upright more than 20 years ago. Today, we replaced our Kenmore upright with an inexpensive Shark, and it sucked more stuff out of our carpet in four minutes than our stupid-heavy Kenmore has in a couple of years. It wouldn't need to to anything else, but there are 3 other ways it's better. You can pull the handle (oh, right, our old one didn't have an ergonomic handle), attach the brush or crevice tool that are stored right there by your handle, and suck stuff off of a counter or dust your end table. Or you could pull the handle along with the long tube and do the same thing above your head or on the floor - like dust the tops of your baseboards or get that fuzz that gathers in the corner of the hallway by your bedroom. And, of course, the third thing is how easy it is to do stairs. The whole thing lifts off of the cleaning head so you can carry it along while detail-sucking your stairs.Consumer Reports says this model excels at sucking bare floors, but I have to say it also excels at sucking carpet. Lightweight, nimble, and so very strong at sucking. You don't need the more expensive, more feature-laden models made by Shark. This one is surprisingly strong. Very happy with our purchase.

An excellent vacuum at an excellent price
I've been using this vacuum for some time now and I think it is excellent. I don't need a $500 or $700 vacuum. This one does everything I need it to do quite well. I like the two different suction levels, since I have a number of area rugs that get sucked up by the higher suction level, which is much better for carpeting that won't move. There are only two attachements that came with it and they are probably adequate, but I saved other attachments from a previous vacuum made by a different manufacturer and they work with this vacuum. It is easy to empty the vacuum and relatively easy to clean the inside of the tank.I don't see any reason why this vacuum won't last for all the years I need it to last. Looking at the suggestions for what to mention, I would say that the cord length is more that adequate and I haven't had any issue with any "smell" associated with this vacuum. I like the size and weight of the vacuum. It is easy to lift, move around, and store out of the way.All-in-all, I like this vacuum a lot more than my previous, more expensive, heavier, bulkier vacuum made by Hoover. Replacement filters for this vacuum are reasonably priced and much less expensive than those for the Hoover.Would I recommend this vacuum? Absolutely! I live in a relatively small apartment with a mix of area rugs and carpeting. I have no complaints at all about this machine and would certainly buy it again if my cat ate this one.

Shark is light, easy to maneuver, and quiet . . .
My Bissell Healthy Home Vacuum #5770 was finally giving up as I purchased in 2009, and it was a workhorse. Yes, a bit heavy, but always did a great job of cleaning my carpets, great suction, and well built. Therefore, I knew that I would not be as equally happy with any vacuums available today and kept that in mind when looking for a replacement. I looked at all the reviews for vacuums that caught my eye and settled upon this Shark. So far it's good. It does vacuum well and the lightness is appreciated as it is easier to maneuver. My Bissell had a wide-path roller and lights. After using the Shark, I really don't miss the lights but do miss the wide path roller. Electrical cord is not as long and had to add an extension of 6 feet for comfortable vacuuming. My Bissell has better suction, but vacuums are very different now and that is as they say, "is that." (When perusing vacuums in the stores, they all look like toys.) Once received, it was very easy to put together as instructions were on the box lid. I had it working right away and it is quieter than my Bissell which is also appreciated. I was able to use a coupon that was available and some card credits to bring down cost low as possible.
