Fan is small and sturdy, it has a metal housing and metal blades.
I used this to make a fan blower for an Oklahoma Joe's Highland offset smoker. I added a 4-Inch to 1-1/2-Inch Flexible Reducing Coupling With Clamp, 4 inch Aluminum Dryer hose, and a 4 Inch Duct Connector Flange Steel Dryer Vent Connector (All purchased on Amazon). It took about 10 minutes to put together and 10 minutes to attach to the smoker.I attached the Duct connector plate (over the damper on the smoke box) with a stainless steel clip but it could be done using a power drill to drill a couple of holes in the firebox (and connector plate) and then attach with a couple of nuts and screws. I removed the sliding damper cover first. The pictures explain the rest.I use it on the very lowest setting to keep the fire going. I want to keep just a whisper of air on it to prevent smouldering and dirty smoke. I use a remote meat/grill thermometer system to keep an eye on the temps. Between that and the fan I do not have to babysit the fire all the time and I can leave it to go in the house for extended periods now. When I first start a fire or add a split, I can turn the fan up a little higher to get more air and jump start the flames. Otherwise, it works great on the very lowest setting. When building the fire, I keep the smoke stack vent fully open to create a tunnel of air. During the cook, I keep it a 1/3 of the way open and the fan on lowest setting.I have used automated fan systems and found them to be overpriced, of terrible build quality, and disappointing. This was inexpensive and worked much better. I have temps between 200F at the lowest and 260F at the very highest, but they generally hover around 220-230 for most of the smoke period. With this fan, i can also smoke at lower temps when needed now. I can maintain a temp of 180F - 200F max by keeping the fan on lowest setting and using much smaller splits. This is perfect for salmon or thin slices of beef jerky. It is also great for things that cook very quickly like burgers. This allows them to smoke for a much longer period before reaching the recommended safe temperature stage for ground beef . This results in very smoky, intensely flavored burgers. Before this fan, I was not able to keep the temps below 230F for any significant length of time.Hopefully I have inspired someone to buy this fan and also quickly build one of these for their own offset smoker. Please write a product review with photos if you do!(Note: I would recommend getting a 4”Diameter Dryer Vent Tension Clamp, which is a quick release clamp, to attach the dryer hose to the vent connector at the smoke box. This will allow you to quickly remove and/or attach the dryer hose from the smoker box when removing the fan from the smoker for storage between uses.)

Very strong
I had a inkbird temperature controller but the blower was too small. So I used the inkbird controller to control this blower. I got a voltage regulator to increase the voltage to run smoother. I've used it a few times and it works strong!

Great addition to help control heat
Copied another customer and installed blower into ammo can to weather proof. At half speed fan keeps home-made smoker at 225 consistently and makes smoking meat and beer drinking much easier on me. Recommended 😎🤙

Perfect speed controlled blower for charcoal forge.
This little blower is perfect for my charcoal forge and can bring it to forge welding temperatures. The Metal housing is more durable and the speed controller works great.

First one came in DOA, and the replacement lasted only 2 weeks and the controller went bad
I like this little blower it seems to work fine, but my first one was DOA I believe the controller was bad. The second one I received as a replacement work for about 2 weeks then you have to mess with it to get it to blow different speeds. Basically you have to start real slow at the low end setting and gradually increase the speed. But it's proven to be undependable.

4 years old and going strong
This thing is amazing! I bought it in 2020 and did not expect much. This thing has been left out in the rain multiple times, and been used hundreds of hours. It is perfect for stoking a fire or getting my temps up a little higher. I have been thoroughly impressed. As you can see from the photo, it's been through a lot and still works exactly the way that it did when I got it.
