5 Stars!
I very rarely have given product reviews in the past, although I measure a products value mostly based on their review ratings on everything I buy on amazon. I purchased Beginning HTML5 & CSS3 by Ed Tuttel, and Chris Minnick, based on the reviews, and on previous books I have purchased. HTML4 by Ed Tuttel, and also from SEO for Dummies by Peter Kent. If you are beginning HTML and are interested in learning HTML5 & CSS3 then this is the book for you. The book starts out with an overview in chapter one and from there to the end is a step-by-step guide on building web pages and making them come to life. I would like to also further state that I have purchased many items on amazon over the years and I highly praise amazon for the services they provide. I recently purchased HTML5 & CSS3 and did not receive my order. I quickly reported my problem to amazon and to the seller of my non delivery. I was promptly provided a replace to my satisfaction.

Well Done!
I am not an HTML beginner. I have created Web sites years ago. However, I am very rusty now though and my knowledge is way out of date. When I was doing Web sites back in the day the only browser we worried about was Internet Explorer. Nowadays there are more browsers and other devices one wants your Web site to display and work well. I want to put up a recipe Web site.I decided to purchase this book to help me get my knowledge current.. This book is exactly what I needed. I love the way the author presents the dfiferent topics. The format is easily understood. My advice to a beginner is take your time. Follow the examples presented and you will be all set. You Web Master fossils out there, this is book could help you to remember and expand knowledge to the present day.I taught myself how to create Web site using another Dummies book, so I know you can do. In addition the CSS knowledge presented here will have your Web pages attractive and look the way you want them too.Learn well. Happy coding?

This book is an excellent introduction to HTML5 and CSS3
This book is an excellent introduction to HTML5 and CSS3. I wasn't a total newcomer to creating simple websites when I picked this book up, but I hadn't done any HTML for a few years. This book did a nice job of getting me going again smoothly. It moves from the most basic aspects of modern HTML/CSS through gradually more advanced topics, building in complexity as it goes along. This is a beginner's book -- it will take you from your first "Hello, World!" level web page to an intermediate level of mastery, which is probably plenty for most people. If you plan to earn money as a web developer, you'll need to go well beyond this beginner's book, of course. If you are fluent with HTML, and just want to learn what's different between previous versions (specifically, HTML4 and CSS2) and HTML5/CSS3, this book will be too basic for you. I recommend picking up David Karlin's "HTML5 and CSS3 for Dummies" instead. Karlin's book breezes past basic HTML coding in a dozen pages or less, and jumps right into the changes and additions in the latest versions of HTML5/CSS3. Karlin's book also makes a very nice companion/follow-up to Tittel and Minnick's "Beginning HTML5 and CSS3..."

Beginning HTML5 and CSS3 for Dummies
Like all Dummies books I've bought or read, this is an excellent introduction to its topic. I'm finding it very useful, both for the theoretical and the practical aspects of what can be a mind-numbing subject for a relative non-nerd beginner.

Taught me the basics
This book is very well written and easy to follow, taught me the basics of HTML5 and CSS3 in less than 2 months, which is enough to build nice websites. From there you can build up your knowledge by watching online videos.

Good for theoretical learning
I begin to read carefully (in no hurry) the book, 1 to 3 pages a day.Problems arise when your advised software (Aptana) presented error during installation. I have Windows 10 64-bit and went to Aptana Studio site for the more recent version. It failed again. So I bought a paid version of CoffeeCup HTML Editor, US$25. It has worked fine. Person who wants to learn (by buying your book, label price US$30) want just yo learn and to stay away from avoidable problems.Problems arise as soon as I began to practice code from the book- On page 192, the 12-1.html shows same results of 12-2.html file (there is error in code)- On page 195 it says to open file index.html. This file has more code than the printed code on the book (page 196). Anyway the result webpage is different than that showed in Figure 12-3 (page 196).For a book "for dummies" it is difficult to learn using the book while testing code downloaded from the site when these two things differ. It is confusing. In this case, unfortunately, it is better to forget the code provided for testing while learning from the book.

Where Is the Meat?
At first glance a good and informative text but too loquacious.
