Excellent CD . . .
This CD is excellent. I have always loved Michael Card's simplicity of song, yet powerfully based on scripture. His voice is soft yet filled with devotion and power. He portrays God as he is, full of love. He shows that we are indeed God's artistry. I can't really pick my favorite song . . . since I love the whole CD. Poem of Your Life: shows that our lives our poems or stories that tell of Jesus and his love. The Basin & the Towel: tells of following Jesus' example of serving the community. The Things We Leave Behind: tells of the freedom we find, when we leave the things that are holding us back, and follow Jesus no matter what. Earthly Perfect Harmony: is a love song of a marriage that has grown stagnant . . . it is a gentle call to the heart to remember why they married and who they both love, Jesus, the one who brought them together. Home: is a song of the meaning of home . . . its not just a house but it is family, where God dwells and where we can get away from the pain of this world. Lowden's Prayer is beautiful instrumental, with strings of longing. The Edge: is a song of encouragement for when you are almost ready to give up or feel you cannot go on in life. Hope: is full of hope :). The last four songs are beautiful in themselves . . . I love this whole CD. It is peaceful . . . yet powerful. :)

Different than other Michael Card Albums
Michael Card is a fantastic Christian singer. Not only is his music good, but the lyrics show a profound insight into Scripture. This CD is different than most of his music. It is still very enjoyable to listen to, but the lyrics show a little bit of the darker side of life. I've given this CD to friends who have suffered from depression, as well as quoting the words to "The Edge." This song reflects his own experience with depression and determination to not go over that edge. Some of those friends have told me that his message is very helpful to them. There are profound concepts in "The Poem of Your Life" and "Things We Leave Behind" in addition to being beautifully sung with phrases that are easy to remember and sing along. This CD is definitely worth the money. And, if a loved one suffers from depression, I would recommend this as an excellent gift for them.

One of my favorites
Michael Card is one of my favorite singers/poets. I love his style of writing. His music isn't "too contemporary" but it's not quite all traditional either. I also love his Starkindler CD with the hymns. A lot of it is straight scripture. So many times I'll be reading my Bible and get to a passage, next thing I know I'm singing one of his songs and think - oh that's where he got that from. I have several of his albums, but this one by far is my favorite. He relates the life journey to a poem and a song.

This is my favorite cd of his!
The Edge has helped me through many dark nights and days. Sunrise of your Smile also lifts me up when I'm feeling down. In fact most of the songs on this cd are ones I listen to when I come that much closer to the edge. He is a wonderful folk/Christian artist and this cd is brilliant!

A Masterpiece
Mr. Card has a unique way of expressing deep and penetrating thoughts through both his lyrics and his music. In this album, his insights into the highs and lows of various dimensions of living and relationships are quite stimulating. Often, the songs are arranged in couplets (one song emphasizing one aspect of a given area and the next taking the other perspective). I think the words to the chorus of the title song summarize it very well, "The pain and the longing, the joys and the moments of light, are the rhythm and rhyme, the free verse of the poem of life".

Good music
Michael Card writes good Christian music. He writes quite a bit of his own music, and he plays several instruments. He has quite a few other albums that are just as good. I would recommend this album or any of his other albums as well. I think his Celtic album Starkindler is my favorite. I actually already owned this album and purchased another for my grandmother. She heard my album and liked it, so I ordered her one for her birthday!

Michael Card has this amazing gift of pulling you in and making you listen to his songs and also provokes you to really think of the message he is trying to get over to you.Grown to love this after just a few plays.

cd plays but has a few songs that skip
This item came on time. The cd case was cracked when it came in the mail and had some scratches on the back which effected quality of the music. Overall this product was usable but the seller stated the CD was in "very good" condition which was highly exaggerated. The album itself is a fabulous album, well worth repeat listens and great for long drives!

Absolut empfehlenswert.
