Spectra Premium Fuel Tank Sending Unit - FG68B

I installed this unit and about 3 months later had a small pin size hole in the gas tank so I pulled the gas tank to switch it out. When I pulled the sending unit out, the filter was laying in the bottom of the gas tank. Looking at it closer, it looks like it is just a little bit of glue that held the filter onto the line that goes into the tank and that dissolved sitting in the gas. Now I'm debating how to secure it so it doesn't fall off again.
