Expected it to be that good
After reading cut &run,I had high expectations for this book. It surely didn't disappoint. Thoroughly enjoyed the story, I liked how it expanded on Macy too.I'm looking around every corner for bad guys lurking.... I guess I've read too many murder/rape/ trauma stories lately. Can't wait to read the next in series!!

Intense!
This was another really good thriller in the series. It felt like we were racing against the clock to stop the bad guy. He was such a monster. He made my skin crawl. Once again, the female leads were so tough and smart. I just loved that. I enjoyed that we got to see how things turned out for Macy after the hit and run in the previous book. This series has been so good.

page turner
This was a very well written book filled with twists and turns, just like the rest of Mary Burton’s novels that I’ve read. I really liked the main characters and enjoyed how it wrapped up as well. I highly recommend!

A great romantic suspense with a focus on suspense
Hide and Seek was another phenomenal romantic suspense from author Mary Burton and a fantastic start to a new series.FBI Special Agent Macy Crow is not a woman who gives up easily. Still in recovery after a hit and run almost killed her, Macy is eager to get back into the field. Her first assignment is the case of Tobi Turner, a high school girl whose bones were recently found after fifteen years. Working with Macy is local sheriff Mike Nevada, a former agent and someone Macy has a personal connection with. As Macy and Mike work Tobi’s case, the pair uncover several other cases from the time Tobi went missing that now appear to be connected. And after another woman goes missing, Macy and Mike are in a race to find the killer before it’s too late.Macy is the sister of Faith McIntyre, the main character in the author’s recent book Cut and Run. It was during the events of Cut and Run that Macy was involved in the hit and run that almost killed her that she’s still suffering the effects from in this book. Macy despises the limitations she now has due to her injury and as a result she pushes herself harder than she should so soon after being hurt. I understood Macy’s frustrations as she was a woman used to doing and doesn’t like being sidelined.Macy worked with Mike in the past and the two had a no strings relationship at one point. When the pair meet again, it’s clear there’s still something between them and I enjoyed watching them dance around their obvious attraction. The pair work well together and they understand each other both professionally and personally. When their relationship does progress, I enjoyed the direction things went and felt it fit their relationship perfectly. Plus the sex scenes between the duo are fantastically done with the perfect amount of steaminess. The investigation in this book was incredibly interesting and I was curious who would end up being the killer. The killer in this book is extremely depraved, having moved from stalking to rape to murder. The more Macy and Mike looked into Tobi’s death and the string of rapes, the more the pair uncovered. At times it felt like they were finding one thing after another which did lead to the book being quite fast paced. I liked that there weren’t any dull moments and felt the author did a great job keeping you hooked. The ending of the book was very well done in my opinion and I thought the final showdown with the killer in particular was fantastic.Overall I really enjoyed Hide and Seek and I really liked the connection to her previous book Cut and Run. I definitely recommend these books if you prefer your romantic suspense to focus more on the suspense aspects.

Hard to Put Down
There were enough twists and turns in this book to keep me guessing to the end. I got somewhat lost in the seemingly never-ending introduction of new characters, but they were all weaved carefully into the story line. I gave "Hide and Seek" four stars because I did not like the detailed descriptions of the rapes, tortures, and killings. Those kinds of details makes me worry that someone, somewhere will get ideas of how they can duplicate those actions.

A definite must read book!
This was a fantastic story with great characters, interesting storyline, and intriguing twists which all made for a terrific read. There are a lot of sensitive subjects in this story that involve drugs, abuse, rape, killing, and violence against women. The author has done a fantastic job of outlining the story while still being sensitive and respectful towards the victims and survivors. It's certainly a story that you'll want to read!I read the story Cut and Run by this author prior to this one (purely accidental), but I'm really glad that I did. It introduced the heroine Macy Crow and you learn all about her background, details leading up to this story, and so much more. It's not necessary that you read both books in order to understand the stories, but it will give you a better understanding of this character, and why she is the way she is. Both stories are absolutely fantastic, and I would highly recommend that you read Cut and Run prior to beginning this book. You definitely won't be disappointed!I would definitely recommend this book and exceptional author.

Comeback Kid
If she is about anything, she is about comebacks! She has comeback to the old town, to Macy who has come back from the dead, and Nevada too, enjoying a comeback in a major role. The dialogue again is line after line of wisecracking comebacks for the formulaic tall sleek men and short bunned or ponytailed women in a world that relentlessly swallows up little girls. In a Mary Burton case, the first hours are crucial. The review rate could plummet with each passing phase. Regardless I myself will not be coming back to the State of Virginia along I-95 for a while, or Texas. I am leaving whilst my hyoid is still intact and no Y incisions loom. ViCAP and BOLO offices are quiet and the free Mary Burton stock is depleted. The river is now racing towards other estuaries and like Nevada and Macy, I have seen other horizons that need to be searched.

Fast paced
Once again I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was full of mystery and suspense that keeps you wanting to read more just to see if you can figure it out. The writing just flows off of the page and makes you feel like you are really there

Power in his hands
So many twists, even when you've identified the killer you still have doubts. Tension is kept to the max, characters are believable, a very good 👍story.

Gripping storyline
It's written so that you can easily get into the fbi agents role, there is tense drama throughout along with seeing the softer side of the people involved and how their lives all connect, it's the quickest book I've ever read for a long time as I couldn't put it down, I will definitely be looking out for more of the authors books.
