WBC does not taste like the original Goose Island
I used to buy the original Goose Island root beer from Jewel but the last few years it was off the shelf and I was not able to find it anywhere. I just found out this morning that it was changed to WBC Root beer. BIG DIFFERENCE IN TASTE not even close. Boy do I miss the taste of the original Goose Island. I've been a root beer nut all my life and Goose Island has that Barreled taste which is how root beer is supposed to taste. A tip for you that travel...I'm originally from Hannibal MO, boyhood home of Mark Twain. There's a restaurant called Mark Twain Dinette...Best Root Beer in the USA. Doesn't come in a can or a bottle but in plastic gallon jugs. I'm from Chi now but bring back 2-3 gallons when I go home.

Don't!
Don't waste your time or money. Find a Costco, which carries this product under its new name, WBC Chicago Style Root Beer, and it only costs $12 a case (24 bottles).

It is the Best we have ever tested
My Daughter and I have been hooked on Goose Island RB for many years. I use to buy it at Costco but they stopped selling it replacing it with WBC RB and wow what a difference we can tell. Please bring G.I.R.B back to our Costco. It is the Best we have ever tested.

One of the Best Root Beers, but not the best.
My girlfriend and I did a taste test on about 20 different bottled root beers including Virgil's, Stewart's, Soix City, IBC, and Birkoff among others. Goose Island is, no doubt, a very good Root Beer, and probably ranks in the top 5 of the 20 we tried. However, if your in Chicago looking for Root Beer in Dominick's or Jewel, I would recommend reaching for Birkoff-it's cheaper and tastes better (and its probably one of the best Root Beers if not the best in the country). But Birkoff's tap in the restaurant is even better.

pricey but good
The offer above is for a six-pack of Goose Island's hand-crafted Root Beer, and it's pricey. It is a gourment brand, not mass produced. One of the benefits of this is that they refuse to use cheap high fructose corn syrup as the sweetener, thats right they use the more expensive cane sugar. Why should you care? Because the fructose hides the flavors in most sodas and overpowers the drink. Goose is lighter and smoother. Nice and creamy texture with a good foamy head. The flavor has hints of vanilla and birch.
