The Entryway Shoe Rack You've Been Searching For -- The Fair Price is Gravy
Perfect shoe bench for our entryway and for less than I thought! I have been looking several months for a new shoe rack for our entryway since we just have a pile of shoes at the door and a couple pairs that were on an old, tiny Target particle-board rack. The Target one didn't even last a year before the particle board cracked and it fell apart. The Winsome Dayton is *much* better made. The wood is heavy and solid. The description says wood and some manufactured --- I didn't see any MDF, but if there is some, it's much better quality than the Target one which was clearly glued sawdust. I think the thin panel back is fake, but the main panels seem solid. There's some WEIGHT to it as well. The finish is great -- the walnut color even matches some other walnut items we got from a local furniture store, which is an added bonus. I don't know how it will last with shoes sliding on and off of it constantly -- I'll have to do a followup in 6 months. It's probably wise to leave an inexpensive horsehair brush on the rack to brush the dirt off shoes before racking them --- a quick brush is good for leather anyway. I think we'll also need a mud mat for first drying shoes on the rainy days before shelving them, but we don't live in a wet climate, so those days are rare.It holds 4 pairs per shelf of wide mens' shoes comfortably, but you can get 5 in if they are sneakers or sandals or want to press them closer. 5 pairs of my wife's thinner shoes fit no worries. An innumerable number of toddler shoes fit as well. The top shelf ("bench") part stores two pairs of boots plus my wife's purse and my laptop bag, plus shoehorns. Perfect! We looked at many of these "cubby" benches, shoe racks, all kinds of stuff ranging from hand-made wood items at a local wood store for $600 to Pottery Barn asking over $1000, to some other Target items (Target has some great items, but shoe racks are not one of them), Overstock, Wayfair, Pinterest... Seriously, I looked everywhere and was unhappy until I saw this bench and took a chance. At this price point, I expected much less, but was happily pleased with the quality. I definitely recommend the Winsome Dayton!Assembly was mostly easy, but I have some quibbles. You need 6 hands to do it. Most of it I did myself, but the final assembly of the last side panel you need to hold two shelves inside, plus hold the back panel in 3 grooves while sliding it into a third and aligning 4 dowels while not catching the shelf pegs on the shelf and keeping them in place. Do yourself a favor and have some little hands to just hold the shelves in place and another set to hold things tight so the alignment goes well. It is held together with wood dowel pegs into holes for alignment and some support, then wood screws. Another quibble -- wood screws with hex head!? They do supply an allen wrench, but it takes FOREVER to get these in since you can only do 1/3 turn then have to pull it out, reset and go again. And it takes a lot of turns. I immediately looked for an allen bit for my socket/screwdriver set, but didn't have hex bits. I ordered a set off Amazon so this doesn't happen again --- I'd recommend getting a screwdriver or ratchet that has allen (hex) bits before trying to assemble --- your fingers and patience will thank you! This says it is a bench, but I'm not sure I'd sit on it because I'm 200 pounds. I don't think you want to use it as a bench anyway -- honestly, the top part is a great place for boots that don't fit inside the shelves. I leave 2 pairs of boots there, plus my wife's purse and my laptop bag, plus some shoehorns. Perfect! To sit for putting on shoes, we have a little ottoman in the same color that we keep next to it which actually works perfectly. I'd recommend going with this ottoman + rack solution and gaining an extra shelf and more durability out of the rack. Plus the ottoman is padded so your sitting bones will thank you.

Perfect!
Don't buy the recommended seat for this buy this 39x14 bench seat instead...https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09872VXGP?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_titleTook a long time to receive but worth it. My husband enjoys sitting down and putting his shoes on before going out. It's elegant and very sturdy. Holds his size 11 shoes with no hangover. Would purchase again, if needed.

Very good for the money
Most products in this price range are going to be made of particle board or plastic and be cheaply assembled and possibly look cheap. You have to be realistic (can't get a Ferrari at the price of a Honda). If you press too hard or when assembling drive the screws too hard, you will strip the wood. The pieces fit 90% well and the paint/stain is quite good. Good sturdy product. My kids could sit on it but I wouldn't want to risk it myself (190 lbs). Not hard to put together but gets tricky in the last two steps because all the shelves and back and stuff are hanging for the last end to be put on all the parts. Good product in my opinion. Looks like the advertisement. I also prefer the open shelves vs the small square cubbies because I think a lot of shoes won't fit properly in those tight cubbies without damaging your shoes and causing creases.

Perfect
This is a great bench for the money. It truly stores 12 pairs of adult shoes perfectly and is still a great height for sitting. I recommend getting the Winsome Wood Boris Bench Cushion Seat to put on top as it makes it very comfortable to sit on. It was fairly easy to assemble. There were two of us, but it could be done by one I think. Like a lot of these cheap furniture pieces, you'll end up struggling with a tiny allen wrench and I did find that the cheap screws wanted to strip if you tried to tighten too much. One of the screws did not have the holes punched in it so we had to find a similar screw at the hardware store but it worked so no issues. I find it to be very sturdy (for it's height and material), the color is rich, it looks like a more expensive product than it is, and I absolutely love it in our small foyer. It's perfect.

Hard to Beat for the Price
We bought this for our foyer area to store our shoes, and we are very happy with the purchase. The bench is made of very sturdy material. When it's put together, it's fairly heavy. You can sit on it and it won't give at all. The two included shelves can be moved to different heights depending on your needs or preferences. The walnut finish is very nice looking that's pretty true to the provided pictures. You'll want to have a second person help you put this together. Getting the back panel to stay in place while you bolt everything together wasn't especially easy. We had one small scratch in the piece that probably occurred in shipping that we were able to effectively hide with a crayon and colored pencil kit designed to hide wood scratches.

Easy to put together
First I have to say that out of all the desks, bookshelves, tables, chairs, cabinets and so forth, this by far was the easiest. Took me about 20 minutes.I will say that I usually use a little wood glue with these projects (especially with wooden pegs) but I skipped that on this one because often times if I’ve put something together wrong, taking it a part with glue makes things more difficult, but do regret not glueing this time because it was so easy to put together, and wood glue does help make things sturdier. And it’s not as sturdy as I would like, and I certainly will not be sitting on it.I’m giving it 5 stars for looking beautiful, for holding my shoes nicely, and for being exactly what I was hoping for.
