Lots of babies!
It works! This kit is really easy to use. My children ages 8-10 set it up with little supervision. We bought the adult crickets from our local pet store but you could probably catch some outside. We have snow right now so opted for the store bought crickets. We keep it in our hall closet. The kids like hearing the churping of crickets at night. You will need a second, inexpensive container to move the adult crickets a week after setting it up.

Cheap piece of crap
My son hopes to receive a bearded dragon this Christmas, so we thought that the idea of breeding crickets as food would be a cool and sustainable idea. However, upon opening this kit, we were both very disappointed with what was included--and what wasn't. The biggest problem with this cricket breeding kit--and what's not mentioned in the product description!!--is that it requires 10-20 live crickets. So after receiving your breeding kit, guess what? Go buy some crickets! As far as the quality around this product, there is none. The instructions look as if they were written by a dyslexic 8 year old. I stopped counting the misspellings after the first paragraph and explained to my 11 year old that, yes, you can get a job as a technical writer in this economy if this person can. Yeesh. As to the "product," it includes some soil and some mesh in a plastic lettuce container with 4 plastic dixie cups, two of them empty, and a shredded egg shell container. I realize I am in the wrong line of business.

Three Stars
Came quick but the kit was pointless, too small to do what you want

Basically a set of take out containers and dirt
I was pretty disappointed when this item was received and opened. Basically what you receive are "take out containers" with a bowl of dirt, a small cup of gels, and a small cup of dry food. The container does not have air holes so you will need to poke the plastic yourself. Also, the instructions are full of typing errors and are a little confusing. I do hope that I didn't completely waste 17.00. I certainly could have researched a little further and made my own for 1/2 of the cost.

Quick and Easy
Very easy method for beginners. Just follow the directions and crickets will do the rest.

I can see now that the directions are a little misleading but the kit itself is a good little kit and it works but there are steps ...
I bought this kit because I wanted to know what all the fuss was about . I can see now that the directions are a little misleading but the kit itself is a good little kit and it works but there are steps you have to take.1- you'll need a seperate terrarium to get started2- take out the egg laying mediumby and put in other terrarium3- put egg carton shells in your terrarium so they have places to crawl around4- put you food and green cricket total bites in your terrarium5-youll need a heat lamp to insure breeding takes place keep temp at 89 degreesOnce this is done its time to add your crickets you'll need to add 10 females and 10 males any breed is fine . How you tell the difference is females do not sing only males sing they do this by rubbing there wings and legs together . Females have what's called a ovipositer this is a sword like tube up to tree quarters long from the end of the abdomen (like a stinger) .You'll have to keep your eye on them to make sure breeding takes place once breeding has taking place you will see the females laying there eggs in the egg laying mediumby, at this time you'll need to take out the males as the males tend to eat the eggs they will dig up the eggs and eat them all . Once your females are done laying eggs you'll need to take out the egg tray. This is were the kit comes in put your egg tray in the kit terrarium put the top on and make sure you put in food around the edges also put little water pellets this will serve as your incubation chamber for you eggs . closing the top will not suffercate them in fact you could use this kit for any eggs to hatch you could use it for reptile eggs ECT ... This kit is only for eggs tho not breeding . I hope I have helpedI've been breeding for years if you have any other questions I would be happy to answer them. Thanks

waste of money
Poorly designed, crickets didn't grow even though we followed directions to the letter. It was a waste of money, time and was disappointing to my son.
