Thanks for your question! All Organic Valley cows eat grass. Our farmers practice pasture-based production, meaning cows are required to have daily access to the outdoors, sunlight and fresh air, except during extreme weather conditions. The cows are on fresh grass when pasture is in season. All of our cows also receive organic forages, especially in the winter. Forages are grass, hay, silage, baylage and other “green feeds”. Hay is simply dried plant material like grass and alfalfa. Silage and baylage are fermented or “wet” plant material. A majority of our cows diet comes from grasses and forages. Many of our cows also receive a supplement of organic, non-GMO grains. These grains include a mix of corn, wheat, barley, soybeans, oats, field peas and flax. The amounts of each grain may vary depending on the nutritional needs of the cows and the time of year. We hope this helps!

Organic Valley unsalted butter is the only butter I buy. It is always fresh and I love butter on bread so insist it doesn’t have a rancid flavor. Always light and creamy. Great for cooking as well, you don’t need a salted butter! Only add salt when needed. Great product!
