Peter Hujar: Love & Lust Paperback – February 28, 2014

Some really exceptional photography rescued from obscurity. It offers the reader/viewer a depth not often seen in the modern age of instant publishing.

A great work - but I wanted to see even more photos. Hujar captured some wonderful moments, I just wanted to see more of them. There were a few photos of naked women, none of whom were even remotely attractive. The interviews and articles included are welcome inclusions too. This is an oversized monograph and it's always nice when naked gay boy photos/books are in that format. They should have numbered the pages, though. The photos have titles and page numbers listed at the end of the book but no page numbers appear on those pages. I hope to see more of Hujar's photos. He was a gifted cameraman.

Garbage, refuse, waste, and other synonyms for trash. Apparently ANYONE with a camera is now considered a professional photographer worthy of praise. Don't waste your money!

This book does not really deliver the essence of Peter Hujar. The photographs are certainly interesting but there really isn't that many.This book left me with a sense of emptiness and sadness. I went online and did further research to discover the real Peter Hujar.I would have to say "Don't waster your money".

I have a mild aversion to photo books. Lots of yawns. But this one appeals enough to demand longer and more frequent looks. It is still out on the reading table after a month or more. Mostly men but not a stroke book at all. Savoring the images is more like it. I am not a photo critic so I can't say what the allure is here. How about "just great photos". I recoil at the word "images" incidentally. That implies a distance I did not feel. I am in the picture as well as the subject. See? Look for yourself!
