We do 2-3 per week as part of our reading instruction and the parents like anytime I can send home things for them to read and practice with. I use these for 1st and 2nd graders with reading disabilities. It's a good resource. I also saved a few of them to put in my sub packet in case I'm out. Review: Great sight word practice! - Scholatic's 100 Sight Word Mini-Books provides a fun way for kindergartners and first graders to practice sight words. Each sight word is in its own book, which is easily copied and folded. It's an excellent independent work activity because each book continues the same "work" patterns! It is essential that emergent readers become automatic when reading sight words so their brains can be freed up to solve trickier words and think about the text's message. I found this book to be quite useful this summer when I was teaching kindergartners.

Fun way to learn to read and write
My four year old is showing a great interest in learning to read, so I've started with the elementary sight words, or common words that found in text that most people will learn by sight rather than spelling them out phonetically. This book introduces the first 100 Dolch sight words that children should get to know to start reading. These words are taught in Kindergarten. Each page can be photocopied to be folded two ways to make a little booklet with four exercises in each quadrant. Each page, or booklet will deal with one sight word where the child has to trace, fill it in a sentence and find in a mini wordsearch. You can get away with not photocopying and just filling out the exercises in the book, turning the book around for your child to complete the page - not an insurmountable problem. We love making up the books. My son keeps them all in a shoebox, and every time we get out previously completed books to review the words. Much more fun than flash cards!

i guess it's good so the kids could also do some coloring on ...
i haven't made copies yet nor have i tried to teach my son yet... but from what i have seen about the product, there are a lot of words that kids could learn. cons are: it's black and white, even the illustration. i guess it's good so the kids could also do some coloring on it. next, you have to make copies of each page first and then fold those copies into 4 sections to make it into a mini-book before your child/children could use it. i think that just a waste of paper and not really saving trees. it would have been better if it was already made into a mini-book. i'll update this review once i'm able to use it and teach my kid.

Awesome, but note they’re double sided
These are great for a kiddo to practice reading skills, cutting, and writing! My only complaint is I wish they weren’t double sided. I think they’re made for teachers so they can make copies. Not a huge deal, but I’d have rather had them single sided.

2 books on one double sided page :(
I love the product in general, but the books are printed double sided, so the back of say, the “they” book is the book for “had.” It would be best to make a copy of the page you want, but that’s an extra step I wanted to avoid.

Easy way to expand simple sight word vocab for Pre-k
I use these to homeschool my one year old and my three year old. They love learning the simple words and reading their new books. I use sight word flash cards as well but these mini books provide a context. Easy to copy, fold and use!

Useful Tool
We home school, and my daughter was digging her heels in the dirt when we would begin our reading sessions, so I decided to teach her sight words first to give her more confidence in reading. This has helped tremendously. After we make our little book, we search for that word in real books. Now, my daughter can read many sentences in books she is already familiar with. She gets very excited, and she is more open to sounding out words and learning to read.

"saw""by""this""and"などです。

I really recommend this for anyone with a child in reception or year 1. If you come across a sight word that they don't know, copy the relevant page, and fold it into a book shape. The activities don't take too long and they all follow the same format so the child gets to know very quickly what they need to do. It is a good way to focus in on one word and reinforce it. It is interesting enough to keep a child's attention in a contained format. I'm using it to introduce my daughter in reception to the early HF words and I'm still using it occasionally with my year 2 child. You need to have access to a copier though otherwise it would be no good.

Uma decepção … folhas do tamanho A4, da gramatura de jornal (que é ruim até para colorir), flash card para cortar, e as folhas para cortar em 4 e grampear… um fracasso, uma decepção com a editora.
