Product Description The Indicator's smooth, confident style and amazing ventilation are combined in a modern design that compliments every type of rider. It's the perfect mix for riding roads, trails and everything in between. .com The Giro Indicator's confident style and superior ventilation are coupled with a modern design that complements every type of rider. As a result, the Indicator helmet is the perfect choice for riding downtown, up a technical climb, and everything in between. The helmet is built using Giro's in-mold construction, which fuses the helmet's outershell with the impact-absorbing EPS liner. Not only does this reinforce both layers, but the "exoskeleton" also allows Giro to engineer helmets that are lighter, more durable, and better ventilated. The helmet also includes 20 built-in vents, which thrust cool, fresh air over and around the rider's head while forcing heat and stale air out. And riders will love the helmet's snap-fit visor, which shields your eyes on bright, sunny days. The Indicator bike helmet is carefully sculpted and size-specific, with an easy-to-adjust Acu Dial fit system. The helmet--which adjusts between 21.25 and 24 inches--weighs only 0.62 pounds and complies with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's safety standards for bicycle helmets. About Giro Working late nights in his garage, designer/bike racer Jim Gentes created the first lightweight adult cycling helmet in 1985. Friends at NASA helped tune the final helmet shape and vent placement, and the result was the Giro Prolight, a sleek, stylish helmet that offered a superior fit while still meeting the industry's toughest safety standards. In addition, the helmet weighed half as much as traditional helmets, making it extremely comfortable. In the years since, Giro has advanced its helmets, which are extremely popular among progressive, performance-oriented riders on dirt, pavement, and snow. Giro helmets are now worn by millions of riders, cyclists, skiers, and snowboarders around the world. Giro is based in Scotts Valley, California.

Best price for a helmet given the up vote by Consumer Reports
I bought another bike helmet first because it was snazzy looking and because I assumed they must all be pretty good, especially because my first one was a higher price and sold by a bike shop. Bad reasoning, right? Yes, it was. I know better. The first one was really hot and it's not all that hot out and it seemed a bit heavy. So I googled that helmet and Consumer Reports came up and that other helmet? HATED by Consumer Reports. The fact that it was hot was not the scariest thing--it did not perform at all during crash tests. Scary. So then I started looking at the ones they liked, then I started looking at how many people loved those helmets such as on Amazon, and then the price. And then I ordered this one. I could not be happier. First, I got the white one with some blue swirls which is far more feminine and cool than the black ones. (Why are so many black?) Second, the venting on this is fantastic and it's very cool. Finally, it feels so comfortable that it's as though I am not even wearing a helmet. On top of all that, it performed in the crash tests for Consumer Reports and, after all, why wear one if it doesn't, yet costs far less than the counterparts that performed the same, offering value as well.I do have a wide face..I hate hats. I have high cheekbones that always bug me when I wear other helmets like caving helmets because when I smile, my cheeks go out and hit the edge on other helmets. And even though I have to wear caps for work (chef) I know they are there at all times and really dislike the feel--always looking for one that doesn't bug me because of it. For me this one is not like that--it's all comfort. And it's easily adjustable--for more so than most via a wheel in back. It's like wearing nothing at all, and that's a lot to say from someone who HATES hats

A lot not to like - I hope it works in a crash
Another reviewer wrote about the twist in the cheek straps. Correct! The design makes the twisted helmet straps uncomfortable along the side of the face.I really wanted a hi-visibility helmet to make me more obvious to motorists - but no yellow or orange color was available, so I went for the white as the next best thing. Unfortunately it is covered in effeminate turquoise scribbles. OK for the ladies I guess.(I wonder why they don't make this helmet in plain colors, and include transfers in the box?).My helmet had a small 1 inch long visible void in the styrofoam molding. (Poor quality control of manufacturing standards and acceptability I guess).Other people seem to have had a better experience than me. I bought the item on its high star-rating, but I have to mark this down. The bottom line really is whether it saves my head in a crash. I note its excellent performance from other reviewers -and that's what is really important. Otherwise, its no better than many other models around.

A Comfortable Helmet That Meets All Safety Standards.
The most important thing to remember about any bicycle helmet is that none of them can prevent concussions. What bike helmets are designed to do is lesson ( or prevent) damage to the skull itself. According to various studies, the most vulnerable areas of the skull are in the temple area and in the frontal lobe. One study shows helmets , if worn properly, reduce or eliminate injuries to these areas by yo to 75%. That means wearing the helmet as the manufacturer's instructions call for. Many people seem to cant the helmet so that it rides too high on their foreheads. This defeats the purpose of the helmet.I have found that all helmets, like all car seat belts, do have a twist in their harness system. However, it is relatively easy to position this twist so that it doesn't rub uncomfortably on one's face: just work the twist so that it sits above the ear strap. As of avoiding concussions, I have heard rumors that there is a helmet prototype which can do that by having the hard outer shell spin freely while the padding softens the impact. This design will not be on the market for years, alas. In the meantime, I'd recommend learning how to fall. Bicycling magazine gives some useful advice: keep your bike under you for as long as possible -- at least until you can slide to the ground. Yes, you'll get a nasty case of road rash, but that is less dangerous than a concussion. Of course, if you are hit by a car or someone opens a car door before to can stop, you're pretty much helpless. However, it is in these type of accidents the helmet's value becomes clear. Yes, you may well suffer a concussion, but your odds of much worse injuries such as a skull fracture are less likely with a helmet.I personally found the Giro very easy to fit and it adjusts to a pretty wide range of head sizes. The Giro Indicator mets all safety standards and, in my mind is an excellent helmet for the money. A few years ago, my bike was hit by a car. I was wearing a Giro helmet. It was cracked in several places but my only head injuries were a mild concussion and a small cut caused by my glasses. I'm hoping never to repeat that crash, but, if I do, I trust in my Giro helmet to protect me.

Giro Indicator Cycle Helmet
I've now worn this helmet several times and it is very comfortable. As other reviewers have said, the straps need careful adjustment before wearing for the first time and the chin straps do twist but this doesn't seem to affect performance or comfort. Good quality helmet
I have never used a helmet before and thought I better start as I have been very lucky a good few times when out on my mountain bike, this helmet is light and more importantly fits great, I'm sure its up to the job of protecting my head I just hope I never need to find out touch wood.

Great Helmet!
Bought this helmet on 1st April around midnight, Was dispatched next day and arrived today! (3rd). Helmet looks great and feels great too, took a few minutes to get the adjustment right on my big head, just to ensure to straps weren't going to bother me once on the road. All in all a great helmet loved by many.

Good helmet, but a little tight
Great helmet. It looks good, and is a quality product from a trusted brand. However, it was kind of tight against my head, I even expanded the wheel all the way for the best fit, but it still was tight against the side of my head while riding. Maybe it is because I have a rounder, bigger head, but just a heads up if you are thinking about this, maybe try it on at a bike shop for comfort reasons before you buy it.Nonetheless, great bike helmet.
