Exactly what I wanted
I bought this pedal for one reason, reduced mechanical noise, and it really delivers on that.My old sustain pedal has a slightly creaky spring - not horrendous, but a bit like Bonham's notorious squeaker, pretty obvious when it's not hidden by other sounds. By contrast this Yamaha one is whisper-quiet, my fingers on the keys make more noise than the pedal action. It also doesn't suffer from thumping at the end of travel i.e. when fully depressed or released quickly. It is missing a couple of nice-to-have features: there's no polarity toggle (not an issue for me as my keyboard is also Yamaha) and the lead sticks straight out the back of the jack plug (my old pedal has a right-angled "elbow" that makes the lead less obtrusive). Neither of these is important to me but others may want to be aware.Very pleased that I've found my new recording pedal!

No polarity switch
This pedal is ‘always on’, which is how Yamaha keyboards work. There is no polarity switch, so it may not work as desired on other keyboards. In Apple Mainstage you can reverse the polarity in the software, so there’s a workaround there.Sturdy, well built, quality pedal. Far better than the generic pedals I’ve had which seem to last 6 months.

Works well ...
I got this because of Yamaha's good name for quality & endurance ... I'm playing a Nord keyboard onstage & the damper pedal needs to be reliable ... I've had this for a couple of months and so far so good...

Great pedal
Similar to the one (FC4 made in Japan) that came with my Yamaha P255 but an FC4A which is made in Indonesia, has a slightly different shape body frame and a straight chrome pedal, FC4 made in Japan has a curve shape chrome pedal and slightly better quality material but cost twice the price

Good quality and silent..
I bought this to use with my portable Yamaha keyboard. Over the past 8 years I have tried many cheap brands costing £10-£25 and all have either stopped working or got squeaky within a year. This seemed like it could be false economy so I thought I’d try this expensive one and it seems really good. But I’ve only had it for a few months.
