Works as expected - would recommend for any hand loader.
Great tool for checking the headspace on your full length re-sized cases. It also has a option to check to see if the case needs to be trimmed which some other brands do not have. The first one of these I ordered did not come. Instead I got a open envelope that obviously came apart in shipping but a quick online chat with Amazon and they had me a replacement on the way with no questions asked. Now that's customer service!

Used both 3006 and 223. They work well. After I size a case I check the headspace and overall length quickly. If it needs o be trimmed I put the case in the trim box if not I put the case in the sized box as I'm preparing cases. After loading I always check again for headspace issues. The instructions are clear and simple. Saves time when loading cause I don't have to constantly use callipers to check case length.

Must have, for every calibur you load for
This gauge works great and will save you headaches later. Must have to set your headspace and check your loaded ammo. I have the lyman and lee Wilson gauges for everything I load. I have one hornady (don't buy) that i never use it was a waste of money. Stick with the Lyman and Lee Wilson gauges.

Solved my mystery!
I was having issues with my M1903A3, bolt hard to close. I switched to full length sizing, which I didn't really want to do because I was looking to neck size, and I found that my bolt continued to be difficult to close. My A3 is a complete refurbish, new barrel, looks as new as it did in October 1944. I found that my bolt was too difficult to close for me rapidly, I am a left-handed shooter. I literally had to pound on my bolt to close it! Factory ammo was not as bad, but still a snug close. After trying to rule out a bad set of dies, I decided to invest in this case length/headspace gauge by Lyman. My reloads were all in there, no problems with case lengths or head spacing. I just have to break in my barrel!

A must for new "Reloaders".
New to reloading? Do you need a safe gauge to let you know if your cases are in spec? If you reload; you need a gauge that will check your fired cases to be sure that they are the correct length. This is a - SAMMI - specification gauge for checking your brass cases for length. It is also used for setting your resizing die to the proper length. Basically all .30-06 rifles are chamber bored to the same exact dimensions. This is not true. The rifles are not the same; there are slight differences between manufacturers, countries and machines. Enter SAMMI specification. This gauge sets the Maximum limits of a case to fit ALL .30-06 rifles. New loaders need to be concerned with this dimension. After learning to reload ammunition; and talking with other re-loaders, then you are able to branch out and experiment with chambering a case to your specific rifle chamber. THIS GAUGE KEEPS YOU WITHIN SAFE SPECIFICATIONS. I am an experienced re-loader and use it to check my neck sized cases. A MUST FOR RELOADERS!

Good buy
Works great. I consider this a valuable and necessary tool. I can headspace after sizing and prepping further. I load for an M1 Garand and need my brass to function as flawless as possible. If you shoot a semi auto? You need one of these and a way to properly swage/ream primer pockets to avoid slam fire and FTF/ FTE issues.

Fast and easy
Easy to use, provides instant feedback that a case is out of spec. If you pick up random range brass or buy mixed brass from gun shows and resize/trim them, this is a great little tool to help ensure the resizing is good and the length is in spec. I've found some damage from semi auto extractors using this gauge too. There are instructions in the package and LE Wilson has instructions for using a similar gauge on Youtube. Instructions are nice especially if you are reloading your own once fired for your own same gun. It can keep you from over-working the brass unnecessarily if you're interested. If not this gauge helps you reproduce factory-like ammo with confidence.
