Dakine Anthem Mountain Biking Knee Pad

Great knee guards! No pressure on the knee cap. I have used them for 3 hours pedaling rides over a pair of riding pants and pretty much forgot they were there. They are not my favorite pads for bare legs though. I have a pair of Leatt 6.0 3 DF's that are slip on and thus even more comfortable than the Dakines but of course, you have to take your shoes off to put the Leatt's on. The one issue I found with the Dakines is that my leg measurements showed I needed a Medium but that was too small. The large fit much better. To put the medium on I had to pull the tabs really tight and they were not comfortable. I got a pair of larges that fit much better. There are 6 inches of velcro adjustment in the straps so upsizing is not an issue, but if you get the size recommended by the Dakine chart, the straps do not reach each other without making them too tight. Maybe that is the way they are supposed to fit to make sure they don't fall down, but I've never had a problem with the larger size falling down. I can make them as tight as you want.

I played ice hockey and skateboarded for over 20 years. I know what comfortable knee pads feel like and these are not them. The interior padding is hard and uncomfortable against the knee cap. I put them on and dropped to my knees from 5 or 6 inches off the ground and it hurt.They are sleek and seem to lock in place with the heavy duty velcro but lack sufficient protection. They’re not awful, but they’re not great either. If you think you’re going to fall to you knees occasionally then I would look for another option.I will be returning my pair.

Have used these a handful of times yet they are already coming to pieces with the straps already detaching from the pad.. not recommended
