Louder than the rest works thru two walls - sort of
I have a front doorbell made by Heath and I can honestly say they don't make 'em like that anymore. Uses 4 D Batteries, so it's portable, enough power at full volume to be heard a block away. Really! Doorbell uses a 12V battery to provide sufficient range. Jumper settings provide tons of choices. I'm a little deaf so I need loud. My 20 year old front doorbell is fantastic! I'm old enough to recall when products were designed with the customer in mind. Today the bottom line rules! EVERYTHING is less less quality, even food Time was when every small town had a butcher shop. Now we buy meat pre-packaged 1,000 miles away in a super-mega-mechanized centralized factory. I suppose we have been conditioned by cheap Chinese goods so that it's like folks will drive 5 miles out of their way to find gas that 2 cents lower. The business model has changed and there's no going back. After a long search, this was the least-worse bell I could find. I tried others and sent them back. The purpose built care-giver alarms don't work, cheap, wimpy. I am a little deaf, I listen at night to the TV wearing headphones. My wife is a wall and a door away in bed. She has a heart condition. I need to put the the doorbell button at her bedside and be able to hear the alarm while I'm watching TV. I thought that something that plugged into the wall would have plenty of juice. The sweet dulcet tones produced were a non-starter, back it goes, more than once. I need it to be portable so I can test to find the sweet spot in the room where it will receive the signal every time. Turns out the wall outlet area is not the best and I had to mount to the back of the door to get the best signal. No more 12v battery, costs them too much, inconvenient to replace. No more D batteries too expensive, would cost .01 percent more plastic to house. Unnecessary, too bulky, less eye-appeal. 25 different models that all do the same thing competing with 25 other companies with 25 models that except for outward appearance, all say they do the same thing. 625 different choices, not really, because as a consumer we don't have enough information to tell them apart, so it's trial and error. Because there's so much stuff we have price wars that overall don't always produce better stuff, just more and more stuff, a noticeable decline in the quality of goods. The best stuff costs more and there's tremendous pressure on average families to save money. To be fair, I'm speaking generally, and I'm glad that this company had something that fit the bill. But why was I able to buy a product at Home Depot 20 years ago, at a lower price, that is two clicks better than anything available today? Is competition really better? We're drowning in our own stuff and too much is never enough. I'm starting to think like a Socialist! It works. Loud enough, that is the quality that sets it apart from all the others. Instructions are necessary and adequate, have to go through a little matting dance to pair the doorbell. I dinged a star because the effective range is critical. 12V is better than 3V If the engineers thought they were doing us a favor...?Walter O

Does Exacly What You Bought It To Do
This doorbell has been a gift from on high as far as I'm concerned. I live in a major city on the third floor of a converted brownstone, in the heart of the business district. My apartment had of course at one point been part of a single family home, but the bell wiring was never at any point converted over to accommodate what is now a 7 apartment residence. All of us missed getting a lot of packages. I asked the landlord if it was alright for me to install a wireless bell, he agreed, and I haven't missed a package since. The chime's volume is adjustable, and can be set to very *LOUD* folks. Missing a package or visitor because you didn't hear it ring is just not going to happen. It came with both double sided tape and screws as options to attach the bell to a door or panel; I chose the tape as I don't own this property, and it's stuck fast through rain and intense cold for the last three months. Hopefully, I'll be able to say the same after the summer's over.I should also mention that I haven't, to this point, experienced problems with this bell going off because someone activated their car alarm or, more significantly, because of the two additional wireless bells that others in my building also now have attached to the door. Even if this had been the case, this model has eight jumpers that allow you to change the bell's frequency (and tone). If you find that you're having problems with the bell randomly ringing, just open it up and switch a few jumpers around until you find a frequency that's sufficiently different from the ones around you that are causing you problems; the instructions show very clearly how to do this, and it's easy (I've done it once already; not because I was having a problem, but because I wanted the bell to have a specific tone). There are dozens of combinations to choose from. This is a fantastic product for the price. Highly recommended.

Works great, easy to buy
This is exact replacement for ones at my house. My experience with these is that they last 5 or even 10 years and then no amount of changing batteries or scraping battery connections make them reliable again. Here is an easy way to buy. My 15 year old house has two, had to replace them both. Maybe the new one are made better but I am happy to order again when I need to. The price is good.

OK, but limited range
This is a nice, loud chime. I prefer ding-dong instead of the Westminster chime. One thing, though. The range is not anywhere near 100'. I had mine 20-25' from the button and performance was very intermittent. If you hang it nearer the front door, it works pretty well. The button will eventually go bad from being outside due to the hot and cold and humidity. I replaced the actual switch on the circuit card inside the button and it works fine again.

I should have bought this a long time ago!
My doorbell has been fading out for the past 20 yrs. Guests complained many times that they rang my bell, but I could not hear it. The bell finally quit for good and I decided to try a wireless one. I wish I had bought this ages ago! It was very easy to install and the sound is great!! This thing is loud enough to hear throughout my house and I live in a two-story with a basement and attic. For the price I paid and speedy delivery I am very satisfied with my purchase.**** UPDATE **** After 2.5 years, the doorbell stopped working. Well, it didn't completely stop, but worked sporadically. I changed the batteries multiple times (in the doorbell & chime box) thinking this was the issue. I even cleaned it out because it was exposed to the elements. Nothing really worked. I paid less than $25 for it, so overall I got what I paid for. I am going to buy a higer priced one this time to see if it will last longer.
