How does this work on rough cut redwood, a.k.a. fence boards? I do a lot of this, and without a thick pencil, it breaks lead all the time. Thoughts?

Did a little reno work on the attic of our house(built 1902) all rough cut framing. Had no issues marking the cut or reading where the line was. Hope this helps.
