When you are thinking of cooking for family and friends, when quality matters, you look for the best ingredients. The Saffron from La Mancha is a protected origin designation product, that means its has to be from the right place, harvested in the right way and nothing added, just pure joy!! I recommend it and say "try it" if you want to raise the bar!!

Having never tried saffron to the best of my knowledge, I had no prior experience. But I do know that it's expensive and is reputed to have multiple health benefits. It's also hard to come by as it's actually harvest from the stigma and styles of flowers. I decided to try saffron tea from this item. I used 7-ish threads in about 15 or so ounces of water. In this case, I microwaved the water first and then added the saffron. That was probably a mistake because I had to warm it some more because it took so long to steep (judged via color change). The main takeaway is that it was weaker than I expected - maybe I needed more threads. Anyway, I did get the "metallic honey" taste that some have reported. That said, it seems like it acted as an appetite suppressant, but I'm going to have to try it again to factor out confirmation bias. There are other reported benefits, but that is one I've seen listed that I feel like I experienced. I like this brand and the price is good. I'll use what I have, try to titrate the tea quantities, and look for any other benefits. I expect I'll get this again, but it's too soon to tell.

Great to be able to find this product online since I did not see it in my local Costco. I am using this for a seafood paella. I am looking forward to investigating other recipes calling for saffron.
