Encountered a defect in the fiberglass bow
Unfortunately, I experienced a problem with a new fiberglass bow on a new 80 lb pistol crossbow purchased as a gift. When assembling the fiberglass bow that came with the new pistol crossbow per the instructions, the new fiberglass bow that came in the package cracked and split vertically at one of the vertical painted alignment lines. In closely examining the crack, it was almost as though the surface of the fiberglass under the paint had been scored with a sharp instument and then covered with paint. The split was such that the paint separated and fell away from both sites of the crack in the fiberglass fibers that immediately developed when the bow was initially bent to mount the bow string. It was immediately apparent that this was an obvious defect.Research at the web site http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AM32D0/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title indicated replacement bows were available for very little money and two new ones were ordered. Upon arrival, one was mounted without difficulty and all is now in good condition and I now also have a spare bow for backup.I already have an earlier version of the pistol crossbow and it is an impressive tool indeed. I have worked with fiberglass for years on various projects on my boat and other items such as arrows and bolts and I am familiar with how surface scoring can affect its reliability under stress. The new one works well and has no apparent defect. Replacement cost was negligible. The basic product is a good one. However it is apparent the bow had a defect and had to be relaced. They were cheap enough and were readily available so, appart for the inconvenience, it is an OK product

Can't/Wont Use It Anymore
With the help of a guy a lot stronger than me, we were finally able to string it. For how high of poundage it is, I was expecting it to shoot a little faster. The string doesn't have very far to go though, so even if it was 100 lbs, it probably wouldn't make much of a difference. I don't use it anymore though because despite waxing the string, the string is now cut where it rides along the metal frame. Maybe I cocked it too fast and too many times within a short duration. You do get used to cocking it and get faster. It boils down to poor design. Really the edges the string rides along shouldn't be squared. They should be more rounded, or even have a separate 'softer' piece that bolts down. Rounded would be the easiest and cheapest.

You get what you paid for
This crossbow i got for around 35-40$... It is exactly a 35-40$ crossbow. I only had roughly 20 shots before the rope broke, the crossbow it's self is actually good. I really never follow any suggestions that others write but I would follow this: BUY MORE STRING!!! It will really help, I did not do this so I put some superglue on it and it is shooting fine now but not for long. If you are good with modifying I suggest that you move the notches on the end of the bow part down just slightly, loosen it up a little, but dont do it too much or it wont work. Over all it is a good crossbow for the money I would just tweak it and get some more string.

Not the greatest.
Well, I thought there was plenty of metal on the bow, but it still doesn't hold together terribly well. The string has frayed significantly after only a few dozen shots, and I have to repeatedly tighten the screw holding the bow in place as well as the nuts holding the trigger housing together. Tightening these nuts too much causes a lot of difficulty when pulling the handle to cock the bow. Furthermore, the aluminum bolts don't pierce much more than cardboard, and if you shoot them at something harder, they bend. All in all, if you really want to try a half way decent crossbow, this isn't the worst you could do, but it's certainly not the best, either.

Small shot
Very fast shipping, but no packaging product came in its own item box with postage on the box. It broke after about two shots the bow-end string holders just slipped off and exploded on the wall had to rig up sumthing to get the thing to work. The bow string itself seems to be kinda super disposable bc after about ten practice shot its seem to be disintegrating. All in all the product feels nice has a nice weight and every inch of it is pour from composite plastic and the metal pieces are stainless steal .

good
I ordered the 80lb pistol crossbow it shipped really fast but I received the 50lb one by accident they quickly shipped me the right one but when I tested them the 50lb bow was more accurate and powerful than the 80lb bow weird but true save yourself ten dollars and just buy the 50lb one definitely powerful enough to seriously injure someone or protect your home or hunt small game overall very pleased with Amazon and the product.

crossbow pistol
the crossbow was what I expected; it was of good quality for the price we got it at. We put it together and shot a few times at some targets. It shot straight and very fast [80 pound rating] The crossbow is very accurate at 50-75 feet right out of the box after putting it together. I would recoomend this product!I found no immediate problem with it; the product performs well.ripper

Don't Buy It
When the bow was taken out of the box we noticed what looked like rust spots on the pull staff. While stringing the crossbow for the first time the end cap shattered. Still trying to make it work, we wrapped the end to be able to use it until an end cap could be replaced. We succeeded in that but it could not be sighted be in and consistently missed the target. These attempts were made by avid hunters used to target and game shooting. Not related to the crossbow but, the packaging even had a few misspelled words which spoke, to us anyway, on the quality of the merchandise inside. I would not recommend this to anyone unless you just want to give money away.
